The Klik of the Month Klub meets right here on this very website on the third Saturday of every month at 4pm Pacific Time (taking daylight savings into consideration) for a two hour Klik & Play Showdown. Everyone who participates gets two hours to create something from scratch in Klik & Play. Abusing the stock objects is encouraged. If you really loathe Klik & Play you can use whatever game development platform you want. Two hours is a pretty tight time limit, though, so choose wisely!

Klik & Play is absolutely free to download, and learning it takes minutes, so everyone can get in on the action. Want to talk to your fellow Klikwreckers? Join us on IRC -- server irc.freenode.net, channel #glorioustrainwrecks. Join the mayhem!

This is happening during my last night of vacation in Florida, so I may or may not actually show up. I'll try, though.

Huh

That's cool, I'm also here on vacation, seeing family. I'm in Tampa. I also don't know if I'll be able to make it, because of that...

Vacation time, you see.

question on sound collaboration

So at the global game jam our sound guy was hyper-awesome.
Is it against the spirit of the KotMK to ask if he wants to pitch in music and/or effects?

The thing is I don't have the awesome KotMK library to easily draw from.

I mean, I do, but I can't get to it through the same awesome DOS-y 8.3 interface.

Having a sound library

Having a sound library available to everyone would be a handy asset to have on hand. It wouldn't be any more against the spirit of the KOtM since people just use the existing KnP sound and graphic libraries for their stuff.

Actually, having a graphics library up for download too would be a great idea too. If anyone wants to start one they are free to take from my games in order to get it off the ground quickly.

Any and all forms of collaboration are highly encouraged! Unless you're Bob.

Seriously, the one thing I want most in the world is a game-making tool that either lets multiple people edit the game simultaneously over a network, or that properly supports source control and merging.

That reminds me, my friend tells me I should put everything I do into git.

Or, some version control. I actually know svn a bit better.

There's some rivalry between the various version control software packages, huh?

It is a good game that holds a special place in my heart!

I'd have to do a couple of variations if I picked that one. Head-To-Head Pen-No-Pen! Quick-Time-Event Pen-No-Pen! Pen-No-Pen Forever!

EUNUCH DEMO

This is my great demo of my game Eunuch: The Penis Cut-offening.

If you happen to get stuck somewhere (it may crash after bosses), use these passwords:

Gigantic Palm Tree:
face[number of level, 1-5] (for example, face1)

City:
shity[number of level, 1-7]

Pachinko:
bach[number of level, 1-7]

The game stops after the 7th screen of Pachinko.

I did this in ZZT, it's a game where you have to enter the zombie crypt, pray at the altars of the ancient gods and then escape without getting killed. It hasn't been tested at all so there will probably be places where you won't be able to continue due to being trapped by zombies so you should probably save often. Halfway through development I changed the game, to make it more horrifying.

heatseeker

This is modeled on a game from the March 1985 issue of Computes Gazette "Heatseeker"

I didn't have time to make it a real game.

I'm not sure if I got the fun of trying to avoid a missile that's going too damn fast and getting it to crash into the ground

now a real game

So I was kind of bummed about how that came out, but thanks to Cossix's and Dess's kind words about it on IRC
(BTW - IT'S SO BAD WE NEVER GOT IN THE HABIT OF RECORDING THE IRC CHATS. THERE'S A LOT OF FEEDBACK ON GAMES THAT IS NOT REFLECTED IN THIS PAGE :-( )
I went back and made it a full game, with ranks and everything... I also fixed the "side of the screen bug"

You can see the original article at

Reading the article, some of the compromises they made for the C-64 seem sort of dumb. In fact the game has a lot of problems, but still, the sheer fun of the looping mechanic of it stuck with me all these years, and I'm happy to have made a passable version of it now.

I have logs from June 08, July 08, August 08, September 08, October 08, December 08, and February 09. Somewhere I've probably got November 08 and January 09, but I'm not sure right now where those are. I'll try adding them as Wiki pages sometime.

Don't Pander To The Male Gaze

This game is basically me just making fun of Dess. I think like three other people might find this funny. It's also way too easy.

EDIT: Okay I added a zip file with maybe the right DLLs in it.

Super Space Walk!!!

I had no internet access in Florida, so I wasn't able to show this game to you guys until today. It's a game about taking a walk in space and it can be played by one or two people. Make sure you stay underneath the space ship, or something bad might happen!

It also features a song that I wrote.
