Oh, shit.

So a while ago I had this idea to write a tool that would let you turn any YouTube video into a Dragon's Lair / Dungeon Escape-like FMV arcade game. Specifically, I really, really wanted to turn R. Kelly's immortal 90-minute-long hip-hopera "Trapped In The Closet" into an awful FMV game. I've been poking at the project, off and on, for like a year now.

Well, I've finally buckled down and finished something that other people can check out. CHECK IT OUT. The editing tool is not terribly far away from being publicly releasable; mostly just some web backend stuff that needs tightening up.

It occurred to me today that allowing Typing-of-the-Dead-like segments where you have to actually type "oh shit" would make things much, much more interesting. So I'll probably tackle that soon, too.

The music video on its own

The music video on its own is already quite silly, but having to click on things actually makes it laugh-out-loud funny.

Man, I would love a Trapped

Man, I would love a Trapped In The Closet FMV adventure and this is a decent start.

What a...

Wow, that is a lot of good job, better than I could've imagined it would turn out. YT QTE FMV is actually and possible and really works. I think I asked about this before and might have been cited here, but this is really seeing it in action. I'd have to say I'm really impressed with it and I like it a lot. The only thing I could think to improve it would give it Elite Beat Agents like gameplay to it, but I'm talking just this preview... like Actually it's really close to that, just minus the INSTANT gameover and maybe a progress bar.. but we're turning QTE Events into a different genre thinking like that and I hope this is close to what you wanted because I'm sure it came out wonderfully to everyone else who checked it out as well.

Edit: I'd have to say if You haven't watched trapped in the closet and are checking it out and it piques your interest.... intentionally lose, and check out parts 1-13 i think this is a recap of parts 1 through 13... Chapter 7 was my favorite part and it's definitely a good watch ala-carte. I can only imagine watching them all the first time and then getting to the recap part never hearing of it before. It'd be frightfully decent.
