Delicious Oatmeal

Malefact's picture

Hello! I am sort of new to this forum; I've been playing trainwrecks for a while and I made this video of Strong's ace "Can you jump it" which some folk liked.

I used to use KnP and the Games Factory when I was younger, mostly to make unfinished versions of terrible Lucasarts fangames. At the time I was inspired by the (now defunct) fangames.com community, which was created and maintained by an old school friend of mine. (I made a shooter called Space Fandango which was the last thing that I worked on, sadly I lost that game to my old computer).

Anyway, I've been meaning to enter a KOTMK for a while now, but figured my leet coding skills were not up to much. SO I thought I'd practise making a game first! My plan was to throw many cliches against each other (platformer! art game! break ups!) and I came up with "Delicious Oatmeal". Sadly the experience is pretty bland (no, really) but I had a blast making it and now at least remember how to use KnP a teency bit better.

Disclaimer for the concerned: this work is fictional, I never tried to kill myself with oatmeal

Mmm, plarformer break up art game. I finished it, it was an enjoyable experience.

I must know though, could I have achieved anything by walking through the gap between the hearts right at the end?

Thank you! I'm glad you got something out of it.

And to answer your question - yes you could, for there are two (whole!) possible endings to the game.

EDIT: Oh, and I am totes curious, how come you didn't decide to step out between the break in the hearts?

For me, it was simply that there was more oatmeal left to eat.

Clearly I had underestimated

Clearly I had underestimated the compulsive power of (the final bowl of) oatmeal! This makes me happy.

My thought process at the time was roughly as follows:

"A break in the hearts? This had better not mean two endings... I'd have to replay so much. Hopefully the oatmeal is just a red herring of sorts and I'll be able to eat it and then free myself from oatmeal insanity... Nope."

Off to replay the game now.

Having played it again, I'm glad I initially got the ending I did. This other one's not strangely depressing enough for my tastes!

Heh heh! One is sort of good but bad, the other is bad but good. I'm not quite sure which one I prefer.

Also I'm glad that you were perhaps sort of intimidated into going through the break, that's what I'd hoped might happen :)

Thanks for replying.

Hey, it's you! Thanks so

Hey, it's you! Thanks so much for doing the Let's Play, man- a game of mine had never been LP'd before (not that I've done many), and I really appreciated yours. A lesser Let's Player would talk the experience away, but you kept it simple.

I very much approve of the game, too. Haven't gotten to the ending yet- I am not the savviest with buggy KnP Platforming- but what I've played is just fantastic.
