The Loveland Frog

thelovelandfrog.png

Content warning: this game has potentially stressful audio (screeching car tires).

A Myth, or A Legend?

Once a media cycle, the Loveland Frog cryptid makes their appearance to a select few. Though they may be three feet tall, an unusual size for a frog, they are truly a friendly character. However, people find the Frog menacing, and do not understand them. They run away from the Frog, and occasionally attempt to attack them in misguided fear...

It has been three years since the Loveland Frog was last seen, and tonight they have decided to shake things up. They wish to go for a stroll across a busy highway, where many people will be able to see that they truly exist. However, due to their isolation from human culture, they do not understand "vehicles", and so do not know the danger they represent...

Now In Video Game Form

This game is a bit spooky, but there are NO jump scares! Headphones are suggested, but not required.

The Loveland Frog is a short game, and takes 2-5 minutes to play. You can control the Frog with the left and right arrow keys, or the A and D keys, to move them left and right, respectively. Your goal is to help them cross the road safely, by guiding them to the other side.

For those playing in the browser (available on itchio here), the game has ended when the victory scene is over. In the downloadable form, it will automatically close at this point.

Babbys first Klik game.

It's a simple coin collector, it only have 5 levels only 4 of which you actually play on.

It should only take under a minute to finish.

If it doesnt then contact your doctor because something is wrong with you.

Peace

2018 Extra Notes: Ahhh...this is where it all started. The fruits of my initial dicking about in Klik'n'Play, as I was marvelling at how easy it is to make stuff with this wonderous piece of software. It being a first attempt at a game, this isn't great. The good MIDIs are there, at least. As a side note, 2012 me, do you want to not be incredibly fuckin' rude/offensive to people for not finishing something within an alloted amount of time? Even if this game is piss easy, I very much dislike that.

The eccentric hedgehog. MechanicalPen first caught the klik-craze when he happened upon the Sonic Fan Game HQ website during his fourteenth year of age. His most used klik-software is The Games Factory, having only recently purchased Multimedia Fusion 2.

Using TGF 2 Newgrounds Edition

So I have started to use TGF 2 Newgrounds Edition. It can only export SWF files that only work if you upload them to Newgrounds.

Now the problem is: If I want to upload a game for klik of the month I need to upload a file but I won't have any.
I could only provide a link to the uploaded file on newgrounds.

Any solution to this problem? Just letting people post a link and upload a screenshot maybe?

Stream of Pretentiousness: No sleep between the last 2 updates

Stream of Pretentiousness on itch.io

I'm starting to get antsy with this project. For me it's hard to keep any one creative thing going on a daily basis because my mind bounces around to so many different places (as you might have observed). And I need breaks like anyone else, so I'm planning to take at least a week off after I've completed a month's worth of entries. Maybe that'll be the time to revamp the cover image and other aspects of branding, plus institute private early access to new updates for my Patreon supporters.

Being antsy, I naturally thought "Why don't I just hammer out a bunch of daily twines on one day, and just sit back and release them. That'll buy me a couple days where Stream of Pretentiousness doesn't get in the way of other things."

I decided that was against the spirit of the project. The point is to force myself to use skills like scope control and time management to make daily work on this project sustainable, not to slip into using crunch and major waves of effort, then letting myself burn out.

Still, in the next iteration of this I think it would be healthier to make 5 updates per week, not 7.

Today's entry is probably the sloppiest one so far, because I happened to be awake when the clock passed midnight, and I wanted to get a headstart on my goals for the day. It feels a bit like bending the rules to do 2 of these updates in the same continuous stretch of wakefulness, so I'll try not to do it again.
