Video Game Anomalies

chubgam.png

so I recently stumbled upon some youtube video and it got me thinking..
thinking about stupid stuff that is so this will be just a ramble mostly
feel free to ignore it

I sort of remember searching for FPS games or list of FPS games and somehow
Chub Gam 3-D and Red Babe usually found their ways onto these lists
and I mean among the big ones like hanging out with Doom and Duke3D
the greats there was usually Chub Gam for some reason
and i'm not sure why it was selected among the many other GCS games
but to this day you can find it on wikipedia, it seems to be everywhere
(I wouldn't be surprised if congress has a floppy of Chub Gam for being
culturally significant)

and I'm not pro or against Chub Gam it's just strange to me how it seems
to be everywhere .. maybe it's just me

another similar anomaly is that at a time I remember nearly every game
developer interviews mentioned that the guy or gal has worked on
Project Gotham Racing in the past in some sort of role
so it was just like some random game and they would mention
XY or so and so has previously on the team for Project Gotham Racing
apparently everyone and their dog has worked on Project Gotham Racing
which also has nothing to do with batman it's some sort of other Gotham
i'm not exactly sure about that part

other similar anomalies:
- whenever Tim Curry appears on a talk show he always gets introduced
as the guy from Rocky Horror Picture Show (despite being on hundreds of other
projects, movies, tv shows, games whatever since then)

- Mega Man always ends up as called the "Blue Bomber" and it makes no sense
afaik the games didn't bomb and he is not using bombs in the games
I mean he is not exactly bomberman who literally uses bombs

Has anyone experienced or remember any similar things?

Twine bugfix: "and" and "or" in strings in <<set>>, <<print>> and <<if>>

Update: this has been fixed in Twine 1.4, so this is no longer necessary.

As you know from reading my macro reference, code parameters passed to <<if>>, <<set>>, <<print>> and <<remember>> have their operators ("and", "or", "$", "not", etc.) converted to Javascript equivalents ("&&", "||", etc.) when they're executed.

But, due to a bug, this conversion is also applied to "operators" that are inside strings passed to these macros. So, <<print "Vast and large">> will print "Vast && large", and <<print "You find $10">> will print "You find state.history[0].variables.10".

Now, I've sent out a pullreq to the Twine GitHub repo that fixes this, but in the meantime, if you're stymied by this bug, you can fix it with this script:

Obsolete script removed: use Twine 1.4

Again, note that in some versions this will be loaded after the Start passage has rendered.

Version history:
* 2/7/13 - Bugfix for "She's cute" string.
* 5/5/13 - Bugfix.
* 25/4/13 - Initial.
Feel free to report any bugs to @webbedspace.

Glorious Wolfenstein Trainwreck - Springtime

springtime.jpg

The very first Glorious Trainwreck Wolfenstein Episode! Ten levels, five authors, one episode (plus a Wolfenstein remake made by mutantleg! Not included in this file)

wol-f-u.png

THE LEVELS:

1. Outbreak - Cycle
2. Pgilstein map 2 - pgil
3. Creepy Pasta - ShineSyndrome
4. Could be worse - Cycle
5. Pgilstein map1 - pgil
6. My level - fabienporee
7. ESCAPE! WOLF SPEAR OF CASTLE DESTINY'S CHILD - Pizza Time (added and edited without permission to complete the episode!)
8. Barrels - fabienporee
Boss - Gretel's Grotto - Cycle
Secret - EPISODE TWO SECRET AREA - Pizza Time

Arranged in order of difficulty and mindfuckery, lowest to highest. Barrels is quite something. THE ONLY REASON MY LEVEL IS FIRST IS BECAUSE I ADDED AN ENTRANCE TO THE SECRET LEVEL, OKAY, IT NEEDS TO BE ON THE FIRST LEVEL.

I tested every single level to make sure it was possible to complete them. It's possible (though I had to edit a couple which had level breaking bugs in vanilla Wolf), but some SURE MAKE IT DIFFICULT. SDLWolf (or whatever) is included in the zip for convenience, but feel free to use your own port of choice, or good ol' DOSBox! NOTE: NewWolf seems to cause a few problems here and there.

No custom title screen, sorry! Maybe for when we add another episode!

Remember, if it's too difficult, press the L,I and M keys at the same time to cheat a bit. Cheater.

ENJOY.
