ZZTV is a community project started by Dark FLR in 1998. ZZTers can create and contribute channels, which are small ZZT worlds that can contain any kind of content the author wishes: previews of upcoming games, artwork, minigames, stories, etc... These channels are traditionally given names that begin with the "#" symbol (e.g., "#bakedcheese"). All of the channels are sent to the person in charge of ZZTV; the project leader is then responsible for compiling the contributions into a series of volumes and releasing them to the public. ZZTVs are done at the rate of about one per year. Each ZZTV is numbered; for example, the current ZZTV-in-progress is ZZTV11. The person in charge of ZZTV changes fairly frequently; Zenith owned the project between issues 4-7 before passing the mantle on, with the more recent project leaders being MadTom, Commodore, and now bitbot.

EDIT NOTE: DUE TO THINGS, WE WILL NOW BE USING RPG MAKER 2003 INSTEAD OF RPG MAKER 2000!

This isn't as big of a deal as it might sound. The two programs are almost identical except that RPG Maker 2003 supports the usage of mp3s and has a revamped battle system. But the main reason for the change is that RPG Maker 2003 will run on Windows 8.

-----

Hey guys! Wasn't Heart Pounding TrainWreck Marathon by everythingstaken and FirecatFG pretty cool? I thought so too!

I want to do an event like that, but using the legendary and infamous RPG Maker 2000 2003. The idea is that participants will make a bunch of short games over the course of a month or so, and then we'll put them together into nice package.

BUT WAIT!

Since I don't think that a lot of people here use RM2K3, I thought it would be a good idea to have a week or so to get to know the program. I've been using it for almost 15 years now, so I'll be on-hand to answer any questions.

Here's what you need to get started:

RPG Maker 2003: This is the main program. There's a readme with info on how to fix any font problems that you might encounter.

Optional:

Here's a website with a bunch of custom assets!

---

Here's a series of basic tutorial videos to get you started. This guy's kind of an idiot. Maybe I'll figure out how to record my own tutorial later.

Have fun, and again, let me know if you have any questions or suggestions. I'm happy to answer whatever.

The most recent merged project file is here!

And here is a Google Doc where we can keep changes that we've made to the game.

To-do list:

-Streamlining:
-> make it so the player has some control over where Clyde and Chrissy appear in the museum (FirecatFG did this in his gallery. The other galleries should use the same method)

-Finish the museum:
-> Add Clyde and Chrissy's dialogue to the ihavefivehat and everythingstaken galleries.
-> Add more npcs SEMI-DONE, BUT THERE SHOULD PROBABLY BE MORE
-> Add echoey footstep noises?

-Keep working on the Main questline:
-> Zita then sends the player on the UFO quest or another quest
-> Finish UFO quest, make it so ending ties in with main quest. Ghosty has a choice to side with curators or Zita. DONE
-> Finish the World Breaker quest
-> Finish the Unstable Teleporter quest

Other:
-> Continue working on Ghosty's computer stuff
-> Start working on the RPG for the true ending (may be phased out?)

Ok, it's time to rock! Here's how it's going to work..........................

Starting tomorrow, I'm going to post an 'inspirational curiosity' every day and you will have the opportunity to extrapolate it into an RPG maker game! Suggested work time is 15 - 30 minutes. But if you want, you can take longer... or you can take shorter. It's all up to you!!!!! THE CHOICE IS YOURS TO COMMAND.

Don't feel like you have to be able to make a game everyday to participate. Maybe you can only do it on the weekends. Maybe you can only do it when the moon is in the seventh house and Jupiter aligns with Mars. That's okay, just do what you can and submit it! The more games, the better!

Please post your games as attachments in the comment section so that we don't flood the new games feed.

In case you need it, here is the link to RPG Maker 2003.

Here is a cool website which you can use to create character sprites really quickly.

Here's an old website with a bunch of miscellaneous resources

And another.

This website has a bunch of MIDI versions of video game tracks.

Have fun!!!!!!!!

WE DID IT!

February has always been known as a time of temporal instability, but a quadruple leap year!? That's practically unheard of. For a while there I wasn't sure if we'd ever make it to march, but here we are. We're in like a lion, and everything's cool.

I'm going to take a few days to make up for some of the days I missed, and then I'll finish up compiling our games into one project file. From there we can figure out how we want the final mega game be.

woo! woo! WOO!

WELCOME TO THE FIRST WEIRD GAME MARATHON !
IN THE WEIRD GAME MARATHON, YOU WILL MAKE WEIRD GAMES !

THE THEME IS : ALL CAPS LOCK TITLES, STRANGE PLOTS AND GALACTICAL ENDEAVOURS !!

SO YOU HAVE TO MAKE A GAME WHOSE TITLE IS IN ALL CAPS LOCK, WITH A STRANGE NONSENSICAL PLOT AND IT MUST BE IN SPACE !!

SOUNDS COOL, RIGHT ???

YOU ARE FREE TO USE WHATEVER ENGINE YOU WANT !! THE MARATHON GOES UNTIL APRIL SO THERE IS NO EXCUSE TO NOT MAKE A GAME FOR IT HEHEHEHE

BUT SERIOUSLY MAKE A GAME FOR THIS EVENT IT' LL BE AS FUN AS A PORRIDGE SOUP :-D

NOTE : I NEVER TRIED PORRIDGE SOUP :S

SEE YOU SOON !!

(all day)
Start: 02/11/2015 - 14:00
End: 03/05/2015 - 13:00

The most recent merged project file is here!

And here is a Google Doc where we can keep changes that we've made to the game.

To-do list:

-Streamlining:
-> make it so the player has some control over where Clyde and Chrissy appear in the museum (FirecatFG did this in his gallery. The other galleries should use the same method)

-Finish the museum:
-> Add Clyde and Chrissy's dialogue to the ihavefivehat and everythingstaken galleries.
-> Add more npcs SEMI-DONE, BUT THERE SHOULD PROBABLY BE MORE
-> Add echoey footstep noises?

From there we can figure out how we want the final mega game be.

woo! woo! WOO!

-> Add more npcs SEMI-DONE, BUT THERE SHOULD PROBABLY BE MORE
-> Add echoey footstep noises?

From there we can figure out how we want the final mega game be.

woo! woo! WOO!

-> Add more npcs SEMI-DONE, BUT THERE SHOULD PROBABLY BE MORE
-> Add echoey footstep noises?

From there we can figure out how we want the final mega game be.

woo! woo! WOO!

Today, you should make a game inspired in some way by this midi version of Moby's 'Lift Me Up'. You can use the song itself, or the feeling the song give you, or the title, or whatever.

This is going to be a Klik Team or otherwise jam. That means, preferably use something Click Team... or use something else. Just make a game.

The Klik of the Month Klub meets right here on this very website on the third Saturday of every month at 4pm Pacific Time (taking daylight savings into consideration) for a two hour Klik & Play Showdown. Everyone who participates gets two hours to create something from scratch in Klik & Play. Abusing the stock objects is encouraged. If you really loathe Klik & Play you can use whatever game development platform you want. Two hours is a pretty tight time limit, though, so choose wisely!

add your game by clicking 'post' over in the sidebar <-----

The official theme is "forgetting". You can also do the official unofficial theme "accumulation". You can also do both for extra points!

-> Add more npcs SEMI-DONE, BUT THERE SHOULD PROBABLY BE MORE
-> Add echoey footstep noises?

Have fun!!!!!!!!

march 1st?!:

From there we can figure out how we want the final mega game be.

woo! woo! WOO!

Feb 32nd:
Today, you should make a game inspired in some way by this midi version of Moby's 'Lift Me Up'. You can use the song itself, or the feeling the song give you, or the title, or whatever.

(selected using the random midi function on cool-midi.com)
