Premise

Elizabeth the elephant is like any other inhabitant of the tree-top community of Pleasant Animal Village. She spends her days in the forest, idle but happy, surrounded by friends, although in constant fear of the flock of airplanes that threaten to ruin her way of life. Wait, what? Yes, indeed, everyone is worried about these strange metal beasts that pollute the air physically and aurally. They cause great havoc for ground dwellers, and they are getting closer and closer to the village... Nobody knows what to do about it. Elizabeth, however, is willing to try anything! Guide her as she explores the village, talks to her friends, and tries to save the day. But most of all, have fun!

About

The List is a light-hearted adventure game with simple platforming, a few minigames, and a focus on dialogue. It should take 2-3 hours to finish. Due to the length, and amount of reading, I recommend playing it over multiple sessions. Should you need help progressing in the game, or if want to make sure you find every item, there is an extensive walkthrough included.

Linux Compatibility

You can play The List on Linux using WINE! The game has been completely playtested using WINE on Ubuntu. If you are using 64-bit Linux, and the game starts without any sound, you might be missing 32-bit libraries for your default sound device. As a common example, if your setup is PulseAudio on 64-bit Debian/Ubuntu, you can install 32-bit libraries using the apt-get utility: apt-get install libpulse0:i386

Credits

The List is a game by Nikki Bee. It's also available on Itch.io for Pay What You Want! I spent a long time on the game, and donations are appreciated. The entire soundtrack was done by Christopher Psukhe. It's included with the game in medium quality Ogg Vorbis format, as well as the original MIDI format. It's also available in other formats on his Bandcamp! Further credits are available in "Credits.txt".

POTENTIAL PROBLEM:
If your framerate makes it impossible to beat the first level, then contact @MoreRalphGames on Twitter for troubleshooting. Sorry about that, I made this on a beefy computer and didn't realize that this was a problem and optimization is out of the question at this point.

One option is to lower the graphics settings and/or resolution in the Unity opening dialogue. That should help a lot.

This little game is about a polar bear that is sick of the penguins always eating all of his fish - so he sets out to kill them all.

It is an endless wave game, the penguins get meaner, faster and more deadlier for every wave you complete.
You can also upgrade some of your stats and equipments every wave so to better meet your opponents!

I made it to wave 35-ish, I reckon it will be totally unplayable by wave 60 or something! Hehe. Those little penguins get really mean as you progress...

anyway...

WASD keys - move player
mouse - aim
Left mouse - shoot MP5
Right mouse - launch grenade

Known bugs:

* Sometimes grenades explode in your face. It doesn't hurt you - it's just annoying that it's wasted.
* Sometimes enemies die off screen - it doesn't effect gameplay, just consider it a bonus :)
* There MAY be a bug with the hi-score stats - however it also doesn't effect gameplay, just annoying if your stats are messed up.

Merry Klikmas, Stranger! I only had the past week to work on this, so I wasn't able to meet the entire prompt. What I have been able to provide is a very large monster truck and large things for it to run over, as well as some sharp things for it to avoid, and a monster truck-themed song.

Windows only. Extract the .zip, yadda yadda, game itself should be self-explanatory. Hope ya like it!

EDIT: Just replaced this with an updated version - bug fixes, difficulty tweaks (more forgiving and fair overall), and some graphical improvements (truck shaking, building variety)

EDIT 2: Updated the game again, fixed a bug and added subtitle support

I liked how all your disjoint inspiration phrases circled a particular aesthetic. I think I may have focused a bit much on the ugliness rather than the coziness, but I hope it's not too far from what you envisioned.
