Mummenschanz

Sergio and I were talking about including a new Knytt tutorial for the Babycastles expo, and I remembered this old tutorial I was tooling around with. It's called Mummenschanz, and like the acting troupe it takes its name from, it tries to convey its message through a minimum of words. I'm not sure if I totally succeeded at it, but here it is anyway! (With music by Kinetic Law.)

Bedtime Adventure

Bedtime Adventure is a game I made in RPG Maker 2000 to help facilitate sleep (except for my own, when I was making it). Can you help Alice through all her bedtime routines? Brush your teeth, brush your hair, and make some art from the heart! Featuring changeable music and system skins! Takes about 5-10 minutes to play. (Definitely took longer than that to make.) Windows only.

(Please let me know of any glitches or crashes when playing! I haven't tested it on a machine without RPG Maker 2000 Value installed.)

Tiny Cave Deluxe Edition

I started writing this before the finale but didn't get a chance to finish until like 5 hours after. Geez I'm slow. Anyway this is a quasi-remake of my old game, Tiny Cave. They don't have that much in common, though, they're only very similar in one branch. It's an Evil Dead/Evil Dead 2 situation. Anyway, it's got jokes, Gravity Falls references, and a very odd cameo appearance by a famous classic author, so try it out!

Another installment in SoftSoft's venerable "put the thingy into the other thingy" series. This one's an allegorical representation of Alex Hirsch, putting mystery into his kid's cartoon so that folks everywhere and everywhen could enjoy it. It's also the installment that took the longest to make, because I kept adding in these like "unique parser responses" and "Gravity Falls in-jokes". I may update later in the week with more, but for now, just enjoy it for what it is. Remember, you need an interpreter program like Gargoyle or Windows Frotz to play the Z-code file.

Juni in the Haunted House

Whoo! I am so glad to be done with this level.

Anyway, this is an old level of mine from way back (like, 2010 back) that I decided to finish up for Knytt of the Month Klub. Except that I went two days into overtime, but okay. Anyway, the basic gist of it is, Juni must explore a haunted house in order to learn its secrets. And get keys, endings, and junk. And that's all I'll say about it for now. If you see any bugs, please let me know, as I didn't test this level as thoroughly as I could have.

This year I decided to enter Ectocomp, a yearly Halloween competition hosted by someone in the IF community (yes, I know this overlaps with the IF Comp, I dunno either). You can read more about it here. I downloaded Twine and everything just for it too.

You are a Blob actually wasn't my first game idea (a choice-based adaption of "Jacked Up Jack-o-Lantern" from the Regular Show Trilogy of Terror 3), but an eight-year-old was getting cold feet about entering, so I vowed to make a game so crappy it would make everyone else's game shine like gold! Which turned out to be no small feat, because everyone and their mother entered a game (or two) this year, for a grand total of 24 entries. But I think I gave it a good run.

If you like this game, please consider downloading (and judging!) the whole set. You can play most of these games through an interpreter like Gargoyle.

Actually I think the due date for that has passed, but since I haven't seen him pick a winner yet I decided to make another entry, mostly just to pass the time. Well, it turns out I couldn't finish Oh Man Go Time Gaiden by the end of the Kart, so have this nice demo that'll whet your appetite while hopefully not giving away too many surprises. I don't know how accessible this is to people who haven't played the "Oh Man Go Time" series, but most of the stuff you need to know is contained in the intro. I swear, I swear I'll finish this (in fact I'll probably edit the finished version onto this page).

The sharp-eyed will note that this is kind of a sucky tribute to the man, and I'd agree. I mean, sure, there's a perfectly fine one bundled with the game itself, but that one doesn't really gibe with Glorious Trainwrecks ethos, right? This is what SoftSoft was thinking when it made this level.

Strange Valley (Knytt Stories)

I've hit a wall with most of my projects, and what better way to deal with that than to re-release something you've already finished?

Actually, this was made for a fairly obscure tileset project, which you can read more about here and here. The basic gist of it is, some guys made parts of a tileset, and nobody was supposed to see any part of the tileset that they weren't working on. Meanwhile, some people (like me) made a level based on a placeholder tileset, which would then be replaced by the finished tileset when every tilesetter had finished their part. I fixed a minor issue with the finished tileset, but other than that I left things untouched. The screenshot is of the placeholder tileset (I wanted to leave the look of the level a surprise). Have fun!

A Quick One (Knytt Stories)

Here is a short, simple Knytt level. I tried to stretch myself a little, narratively speaking, by telling a story with as few words as possible, but I don't think I was entirely successful. Oh well!

Trivial trivia: This is not the first level I started that takes its title from a Who song, but it is the first one that I finished! Also, note that the song and level have absolutely nothing besides the title in common. (I think.)

Edit: Fixed a really obvious void. Like, dang girl, what was I thinking, leaving a void like that unaccounted for?

A Christmas Knytt Story! Actually, this had been in development since, well, Christmas, but because I was stalling on Oh Man Go Time Gaiden I figured I'd rush some of my earlier Knytt Stories to completion to compensate.
