August 27th is Knytt Stories' 10th birthday! It's also the deadline for an "epic" level competition hosted by Fubaka. The main requirement for this competition is that levels have at least 300 unique screens.

Now, I know this is more than I could manage on my own, and it may even be difficult to achieve collectively in just over a week (Rainy Day Adventure had about 200 screens) but I figured it was worth a shot! If at least 10 people participate, then we only have to do about 30 screens each, which sounds... manageable?

My basic idea for a framing device that would allow us to simultaneously be working on parts of the level that can be a wildly incongruous mixture of styles is: The Cursed Gallery, wherein Juni encounters a strange building/mansion/whatever full of paintings, each of which depicts (and teleports to) a different participant's portion. I'm open to workshopping this concept, or even replacing it entirely! I'm also distressingly busy at the moment and fear I won't have time to actually design decent rooms to comprise the gallery, so if anyone else would like to try their hand at the task, say so!

I think being open to using Knytt Stories + features could make some parts of this collaboration easier, so participants should feel free to go wild with KS+ stuff if they want. I'd also suggest you pick a random starting point other than x1000y1000 to build your part of the level, as it will be easier to combine different parts if screens don't overlap (but it's not the end of the world if they do).

So, comment or "sign up" if you're interested in participating, or even just make something, upload it, and hope for the best! Feel free to ask questions (but given the loose, last-minute nature of this event you could also feel free to provide your own answers).
