The Klik of the Month Klub meets right here on this very website on the third Saturday of every month at 4pm Pacific Time (taking daylight savings into consideration) for a two hour Klik & Play Showdown. Everyone who participates gets two hours to create something from scratch in Klik & Play. Abusing the stock objects is encouraged. If you really loathe Klik & Play you can use whatever game development platform you want. Two hours is a pretty tight time limit, though, so choose wisely!

Klik & Play is absolutely free to download, and learning it takes minutes, so everyone can get in on the action. Want to talk to your fellow Klikwreckers? Join us on IRC -- server irc.freenode.net, channel #glorioustrainwrecks. Join the mayhem!

After you've made your game, you should upload it here! You might also like to check out the list of games made for this event.

For more information, check out the KotM N00B FAQ.

So does anybody else find...

...that KOTM is actually helpful in motivating them to finish other projects?

I do. I love actually finishing something, even if it's just a ridiculous Klik game...

Am I just pointing out the obvious again?

Oookay, THIS is when I'm gonna make that ode to a Klik classic.

Or maybe not. ONLY TIME WILL TELL [/clichedphrase]

"...that KOTM is actually helpful in motivating them to finish other projects?"

Erm, not really, no. If anything, it's distracting me from doing actual C++ work, among other things, heh...

I don't know if this is

I don't know if this is exactly what you mean, but the year before I started doing KOTM (2008) I released no games whatsoever. This was something that depressed me a little and I vowed to change. I'm not sure exactly how many I made in 2009, but it was significantly more. This year, I have already churned out about 10 games... KOTM is at least 50% responsible.

Hmm, okay, here's a hint: The author likes to draw really thick outlines on graphics.

The Klik of the Month Klub

The Klik of the Month Klub was started in order to help motivate people to make what they really wanted to make! So it makes me glad to hear that it does have this effect. I don't know how directly KOTMK has influenced my personal work ethic, but I can definitely tell you that since starting Glorious Trainwrecks, I'm starting, sticking with and finishing a lot more projects than I used to.

Art Week

Spent the whole week making pixel art for a pretty obvious and inevitable follow up to a KOTM game of mine from a while ago. It should be fun this time? At least it will be pretty.

I'm imagining something like this, then!

I remember the ridiculous bullet time... pity that game seems gone forever. Nah, I probably have a copy on an old hard drive.

I have a lot of stuff on my

I have a lot of stuff on my old 1999-2002 machine. Various Click games (deleted one or two for reasons unknown - wish I hadn't), the DOS demo of Sonic Epoch (which I thought was a lot better than the Advance version), and a MIDI wavetable synth that I really liked (wish I could find a way to get those MIDI instruments so that I could listen to MIDIs with nostalgia).

Currently unplugged, but shouldn't take much effort to put it back into commission. Also caught a few viruses (Trojans?) but they don't seem to transmit. It's a Windows 98 machine too, so no USB drives allowed (or are they?).

JANESAW

Story: The company's proprietary spreadsheet program crashed when Jane was mere pixels away from the save icon and minutes away from the end of the day's work.

Featuring: frownworthy Game Maker engine abuse.

Use your maths skill to not die.

Entomology PhD Simulator

Hello this is my first KotM entry and I was picking it all up as I went along so please excuse the fact that you can win by doing nothing (or, pretend that it's some kind of deliberate commentary on the state of postgraduate education).

I'm not going to tell you the controls because this is a PhD and you ought to know these things by now.

Follow the Yellow Brick Road

No, no, it's not the next version of Crysis. It's a game inspired by Terry Cavanagh, Anna Anthropy and The Path!

I went a bit ambitious, so had to rush it a lot. It might run too fast or too slow or not at all for you. Sorry about that! The game is made in Visual Basic 6 and includes the code.

Pardon the Tardiness
