Caught Between Dimensions

This started as a tiny platformer I was making over the last few days, and I was thinking ehhh I'll keep it really small and tight. It got slightly bigger, but still didn't get so big as to become unmanagable. It also got an extra coat of polish, somehow. I think that was pure accident. But anyway, here it is. It follows the story of a girl stuck in another dimension trying to get out. It uses some old sprites that I also had half-baked ideas for.

It's got 4 levels, and makes heavy use of a mechanic called "air walking" which I was going to use in another game that I also didn't finish, so I thought for a long time that I wanted to give it a proper outing. The mechanic involves running off edges, and being able to float in the air for a split second. Think Wile E. Coyote running off a cliff. It also makes a satisfying "pop" noise like a gas stove clicking on.

You can use this to get more air. I built the whole game around this mechanic. There's no combat, just platforming. It let me really experiment with this idea

Pretty Great!

High score of 28, and I bought the Cool Hat and the Gem Finder.

Really nice level design, and the secrets were a satisfying find...! You did eke out the most from that extended platform mechanic. Well done!

In the final stage, I was surprised I could go to the left instead of following the arrow, and I'll always wonder if I could really make that last jump...

Ooh I thought the platinum

Ooh I thought the platinum thing was a joke cause I couldn't find any... interesting :o

Hard to Find

I discovered only 3 pieces myself, and I wonder if there are more... Seriously rare.

Wow, you made it to the end

Wow, you made it to the end that fast, AND you found 3 platinum? I'm impressed! Thank you!

This is such a cute

This is such a cute platformer! I love air walking so much, I wish it was in like so many agonizing precision platformers I've played before.

Thank you! I'm glad you like

Thank you! I'm glad you like it! And yeah, I feel like I can't go back to not having air walking. I played another platformer after this and I kept falling off everything

The player animations in

The player animations in this are so good! I love the general aesthetic of random objects in a black void, too. Reminds me a lot of… hmm… Dangerous Dave?

The colorful objects in the

The colorful objects in the void immediately called to mind for me the last stage of Jill of the Jungle (along with certain aspects of mechanics and level design). I love everything about the way this game looks.

Wonderful

This is a beautiful game. I haven't finished it yet, but I think I'll enjoy playing it across two or three session. The way it feels, the music, the visuals, the atmosphere are all fantastic. I'm sure there are some secrets I haven't found in areas I've been to, but blocks and creatures and objects that don't seem to have any particular function give this game so much enchanting character.

Thanks for this game. I can't wait to spend some more time with it.
