University is over for me for this year, so it's time to revive the event I suggested and then abandoned due to my workload. It's time for...

KNYTT OF THE MONTH* KLUB #6

*Disclaimer: event not actually monthly.

Make a Knytt Stories level in 2 hours! Alternatively, make something else in 2 hours. It's up to you, really.

Never used the Knytt Stories editor before? No problem! Download Knytt Stories here. (If you've never played it before, give the tutorial or bundled level a go to get a feel for how the game works.) The editor comes included, and a good way to learn to use it is by cracking open existing levels and poking at them to see how they work. This guide is also recommended reading.

Join us on IRC for camaraderie, support and merrymaking! Point your favourite IRC client to #glorioustrainwrecks on irc.freenode.net, or use our handy-dandy in-browser chat here.

Upload your level here when it's done!

I'll say now that I'm planning to finish a level I started working on a few days ago for this event, so don't feel like you have to make everything in two hours.

Entering levels early?

In the past I've had trouble making my levels within the timeframe, but only because I wasn't there for it. If this sort of thing looks like it might happen again, would anyone object to me starting my two hours earlier than everyone else, and then of course finishing earlier?

it's cool

The only reason for Glorious Trainwrecks events having a time and date is so that we can chat live while the event is going on. Asynchronous participation is totally okay with us, but you'll miss out on the live banter and comradery. Anything that would prevent participation is eliminated on Glorious Trainwrecks, because Glorious Trainwrecks is all about getting stuff done. Nobody should be hesitant to join us in any way possible. Build with gusto! Get out there and make something!

Go for it. If you're planning on getting on IRC, I'll try to start a bit earlier too.

In past events, Knytt Stories levels have been submitted throughout the day, so if you want to take longer than 2 hours I'm sure nobody will object.

This is a preview of the level I was working on:

I may never finish it... while it looks pretty, I kinda hate the gameplay and even with a friend's help we couldn't really fix it.

Not bad, but the entrance to hell looks like a giant beaver!

This never would have happened if you had asked ME for help instead of that fool Caevstroy!!

Probably not. I did actually make some Eyeball games in the past, if you weren't aware! I have just uploaded them here, since virtually all the previous websites they were hosted on have died now.

does this mean we can use this site as our small game / custom level repository?

(i mean all our games are pretty much glorious trainwrecks either way)

Yeah, I'm totally happy with people hosting games here if they want. Attaching things to blog posts is the best distribution method for games not made for events, right now, I think.
