Snappy Step Simulator

I tried to make a game where you control the rotation of the main character's two stick legs, but the end result was crashing. So I changed it to hopping and alternating feet.

Shift will make you move slower horizontally. Don't let your rocket arms bump into anything. Your feet check constantly for active object overlap, so sometimes it's possible to run across stretches of thin or tiny blocks.

I, uh, need to find a replacement for K&P that doesn't crash. I'm very familiar with the K&P/MMF system and maybe this has been holding me back from switching? I'll look into Game Maker.

(PS - have you considered zip files instead of z7?)

7-zip is awesome, Kirk!
Get with the times.

Also this game is awesome! Sometimes I wish I didn't have rocket arms, because just dancing is precarious enough, but rocket arms are so awesome that I can't stay mad.

Awesome.

Man, Kirk, I'm just ribbin'

Man, Kirk, I'm just ribbin' you! I like 7-Zip: The Program because it's free (meaning no irritating "Register me!" dialogue boxes) and it deals with every file format you are going to encounter on the wilds of the internet. 7-Zip: The File Format I could care less about, but it does produce much smaller files than zip.

GameMaker is certainly a pretty phenomenal value once you start comparing it price-wise to the latest and greatest MMF, and overall, my experience with it has been fairly positive. I hear Construct is of a similar philosophy to the Klik series of products, and it's free, but I haven't spent any time with it.

I'll use ZIP in the future.

Also, I should explain why I'm here! When I was a little kid, I made lots of K&P games with utter abandon, and it was a lot of fun. As I grew older, I turned into one of those envious perfectionist creeps who are afraid of their own shadow and never finish a game. The manifesto on the front page has inspired me, and now I want to get back to the way I used to work.

Yes! This is exactly the right place for you. Your games thus far have been great, so fuck perfectionism!

Do you still have any of the games you made as a kid? I'd love to see 'em!
