The Klik of the Month Klub meets right here on this very website on the third Saturday of every month at 4pm PDT for a two hour Klik & Play Showdown. Everyone who participates gets two hours to create something from scratch in Klik & Play. Abusing the stock objects is encouraged. If you really loathe Klik & Play you can use whatever game development platform you want. Two hours is a pretty tight time limit, though, so choose wisely!

Klik & Play is absolutely free to download, and learning it takes minutes, so everyone can get in on the action. Want to talk to your fellow Klikwreckers? Join us on IRC -- server irc.freenode.net, channel #glorioustrainwrecks. Join the mayhem!

I like the new red.

I like the new red. Alternatively, get off your asses people and put underline tags around your links. There, I said it.

And by asses I mean donkeys.

And by asses I mean donkeys. What is this, passover?

This new board scheme makes

This new board scheme makes me think of the aftermath of an actual trainwreck.

heheheh

Heh, I do think the more visible links are a usability win. (Though I am in the "put the damn underlines there" camp)

And the rest of the site fits more into the general Trainwreck theme

Or Halloween.

Yay!

Actually I appreciate the responsiveness and being so open to suggestions in general.

SpindleyQ's picture

Oh, duh, underlines. Yes,

Oh, duh, underlines. Yes, that's pretty nice.

The helicopter mechanic is most delightful.

Re: Links

Better?

Though I was busy with such

Though I was busy with such things as "my new baby" and "my wife's birthday", I was there IN SPIRIT, or rather I've been leaving the IRC channel open at work. I noticed that there was call for an IRC transcript, so here it is!

If I had a suggestion, I'd

If I had a suggestion, I'd say increase the number of ghosts by, like, an order of magnitude.... otherwise, pretty spiffy.

I'd like to participate, but

I'd like to participate, but in my timezone, the contest lasts from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Am I allowed to make a two-hour game the day before, at a time during which my brain is more likely to function properly?

SpindleyQ's picture

You're allowed to make

You're allowed to make two-hour games all the time, of course! I personally put in my entry a week early. But the real fun is in hanging out with everyone else on IRC who are also making the worst game of their lives; they are the only ones who will understand your despair.

Also, I live for that awkward hour afterwards where everyone is kind of pumped up, like, yeah! I wrote a motherfucking videogame in two hours! These other games are awesome! Hey guys, your games are awesome! Woo! Woo. Oh, I guess.. I guess it's over. You guys... you want to talk about stuff? Not really? Okay. Uh. See you next month everyone, then.

(I wonder if we actually have something resembling the critical mass to sustain an IRC channel. Maybe I'll just start hanging out there.)

I've just finished making my

I've just finished making my game, Mz. I haven't beaten it honestly yet, but I believe it to be beatable. Optical mice may be too skittery for it, but old-fashioned ball mice might work. Ouse-mayEys-kay definitely works.

Edit: I never thought I'd say this about a game I made, but I just beat it without cheating!

And now I've made a sequel

And now I've made a sequel within the usual time window: Zm.

Probably the first Glorious Trainwreck based on a cellular automata.

Like all my Java "processing.org" games, no sound effects, and probably needs a not-ancient computer to run it.

Klik of the Kollossus

I will let my opus speak for itself.

In the interest of completeness, here is a link to SpindleyQ's early entry, FATHERHOOD: EPISODE ONE.

Yeah the timezone for me is

Yeah the timezone for me is also not too hot. But I thought i'd take a break from the heart-wrenching romantic saga and post this polished turd, made yesterday.

hey, nice. any way to

hey, nice.

any way to lose?

So we should put it on the list? It fits in the 2 hours and all that?

Actually I went ahead and put it on the list

PS this site doesn't make links obvious enough

captaincabinets's picture

I just managed to get it in

I just managed to get it in under 2 hours so I would consider it part of the klub. But since I spent probably half that time making the map (if anyone needs a pac-man tileset, i'm your man), and another 20 minutes browsing the Worms Armageddon CD trying to find a "Crikey" sound clip that I swear existed (it doesn't), I didn't have time to really work on the mechanics. Initially I wanted to make a lengthy opening cinematic, as well as a tiny yellow fist for when you hit the ghosts.

It will be a raucous and

It will be a raucous and flamboyant musical/game hybrid about 2 spambots who learn to feel, nay, LOVE, after replying to each other on the same forum thread, called either "Software Pirates of Penzance" or "C.M.O.S. Pinafore" or "Phantom of the Firefox".

The sun is shining and I

The sun is shining and I must go and avail myself of white wine and soda water at the corner shoppe, but rest assured this is now officially listed as In Development.

I so love this forum.

Holy shit! We are popular

Holy shit! We are popular enough to attract adbots!

Yeah, in the bigtime now fellows.

SpindleyQ's picture

Done!

We get a lot of spambots registering pretty regularly. I've even been getting a lot lately that sign up with invalid email addresses, the fuckers. I'm going to try to tweak the sign-up email to not actually have any URLs to harvest.

It's tough being popular

MODINATED.

Mr. Q will have to do the baninating, though.
