Spidarena

spa_001.png

SPIDARENA, a game made for some other secret santa game jam. I finally figured out how to do twin-stick shooting, except it works on the keyboard and not a controller. Still working on that... The good news is that you can play both the standalone Windows version or the HTML 5 version (the download contains both).

The web version is playable at this link:
https://let-off.neocities.org/games/santa2020/index.html

--------
CONTROLS
--------

WASD KEYS: Move the spider.
ARROW KEYS: Shoot a Venom Blast. Hold the keys for autofire of Venom Blasts.
SPACEBAR: Launch a Web Shot. You can trap flies in Cocoons with a well-placed Web Shot.
ESC KEY: Toggle Pause.
F2 KEY (standalone only): Return to title screen.

-----------------
ENDING EACH STAGE
-----------------
You can successfully complete a stage of Spidarena in one of four ways:
1. Destroy 100 Flies.
2. Destroy all Fly Nests.
3. The Spider Gains 100 Health.
4. The Spider Eggs are fed with 11+ Cocoons.

Some methods will earn you more points than others. Experiment and try different strategies to see what works best for you!

----------
SOME HINTS
----------

Stand on a Cocoon to consume its contents. When the green bar that appears is full, the Cocoon is emptied and the Spider gains 5 health.

Stand on the end of a Web Strand to build it and make it longer. When the purple bar that appears is full, the strand is extended until it reaches maximum length. Any Fly that moves over these web strands is slowed. Any Cocoon over these strands slowly moves towards the Spider Eggs.

Pillbugs are invincible, but their Spitballs can be destroyed by a Web Blast. However, it's best to just avoid them as much as possible.

You have limited Web Shots, but each time you defeat 5 Flies you gain one back as a bonus. You can carry a maximum of 10 Web Shots.

Enjoy and "Thank you for play!" [sic]

platformin' norman and the curse of no variable jumping

norman-screen.png

a game for thesycophant.
it's a single-screen platformer! it's not very lemmingsy, but it is vaguely lode runnery. and vaguely frustrating.

use the arrow keys!

uses vrld's hump and hardoncollider, and kadoba's advanced tiled loader for LÖVE
music is "surfing on a sinewave" by fearofdark (stephen hemstritch-johnston) (creative commons by-sa-nc)

see attached .love archive if you want to run the thing in osx or linux (must have LÖVE installed) or if you want to poke around in the source.

Pat the Phat Jetpack Cat!

patcat.jpg

PLAY WITH SOUND ON. Please.

A twin-stick bullet hell shooter sequenced to music! It's just like being in a music video!

* 100 points for enemies!
* If an enemy touches an explosion, it will explode too, setting off a chain reaction! This awards a bonus 100 for each explosion!
* Explosions will also destroy fireballs! 10 points for every fireball destroyed!
* -500 points for getting hit!

You can't die! Instead, the aim is to earn as many points as you can before the song ends (the green bar at the bottom represents song length). Try not to get hit! That tip's for free!

SUPPORTS XBOX GAMEPADS! WOW! Keyboard controls are the arrow keys and WASD.

Music: Goodmorning Sun by Qua (quamusic.com)
Music used without permission, go buy his stuff so he doesn't sue (also it's rad).

The .NET Framework 4.0 Redistributable and the XNA Framework Redistributable 4.0 Refresh are required to play.

Judges Judging Judges

JudgingJudges.png

Wherein I continue on a series of games that sort of follow ExciteMike's score attack Trainwrecks.

Use the Arrow Keys to drive the Judges. Press Space to fire gavels.
Make the Judges judge each other by hitting them with their own gavels!

How many Judges can you judge?

Music by Torley.

Jugglers Juggling Jugglers

JugglingJugglers.png

Wherein I accidentally make a game styled after something ExciteMike would make. Maybe.

Use the mouse to move your Juggler.
Collide with the falling Jugglers to juggle them.
Falling Jugglers can juggle other Jugglers, too!

How many can you keep in the air at once?

Music by Torley.

1 Player Pong

Menu.png

1 Player Pong, bounce the ball off the wall, and bounce it back with the bat!
Ball gets progressively faster, so try to keep up, or hold Space to slow it down.
However, you're on a time limit, so only slow it down when you need to!
A faster ball means a higher score, but more risk!

Just my minor contribution, hope you enjoy it for what it is.

Good luck to everyone else!
