These are five songs I made from December 1st to January 11th, each about 30 seconds long. Some of them use samples from Nifflas' Loads of Samples vol 1. Once I can get some more samples I'll probably use OpenMPT to make songs instead.
Pellen is arguably the first song I made, though I've changed it many times after I've created Wushie. Initially the song was 1/4th as long as it is now!
Wushie started out with the really basic sineOrgan and ORG_M04 that most of the song revolves around, then I just added a few more instruments until it felt right. Again, it feels kind of wrong to list these in order I've created them, since I tend to modify them a lot before they're to my liking.
Sprayer could be an exception, though. I barely touched this after I got it to sound nice enough. As a result, it's the simplest of the 5, and it's mainly just an experiment with beat.
Droi started with a rectNormal and a sawdNormal, which I later changed to Z Closed and Lofi Closed (instruments from Nifflas' samples pack). It took me a while to decide that I'd be using a snare. The channel where the snare goes went through a few other instruments, including bells and a hi-hat (also from niff) which sounded cool at the time even with the cutoff.
Gorje was the last song I created, but not the last song I modified. It makes the W voice sound a lot like a saxophone by getting it at just the right pitch.
Anyway, the 5 songs are attatched below in a .zip file, and they're available as .pttune and .wav. If they're bad, tell me! You can also tell me if they're good, just let me recover from the shock afterwards.
Hello,
I am currently working on a redesign of battleship and I need to playtest it some more. I think I've made my IRL friends play it too much lately, so I'm seeking help here (it DOES have an online mode). Let me know if you are interested! It takes a while to play so make sure you have a couple hours of free time coming up.
Thanks!
i'm looking 5x5 (or a similar size) pixel or voxel art! i'm going to put them all in a single gallery.
if you're familiar with puzzlescript, I'm using the 3D version, dungeonscript
you can make characters, all sorts of objects, walls, floor tiles, etc. i'll put them in the game, and script them to move if you want.
how to make pixels or voxels?
you can do it in the dungeonscript engine:

or
you can use these in-browser programs that i'll (try to) replicate in the engine.
pixel: http://www.piskelapp.com/
voxel: http://voxelbuilder.com
any questions or if you need help, reply here or pm me! :)
[i already edited this twice, by the way]
I have no idea if anyone will see this. I keep on forgetting about the forums.
Anyways, I do a monthly gallery walking sim thing, and this month's show is about horses! It's an open invitation, and the goal is to be done by 1 August 2017 (lol).
If you're interested, here's what you can do!
♥ images to be looked at in a gallery space (whether it's a purely digital work or a photo of a physical piece)
♥ images as texures
♥ gifs or tiny short videos can be used
♥ 3d models (.blend preferred, but I hear .fbx works well, too)
♥ haikus that I will make into 3D text
♥ other suggestions
I'm using Unity for this, but I also would like to include files that exist outside of that, too—so everything will be in a .zip file. Here are examples:
♥ Text file (short story, ASCII drawings, etc.)
♥ webpages (.html files)
♥ Other games!! (bitsy, twine, etc.)
♥ Pages or templates for people to print and use (i.e., horse activity pages, cardboard horse templates)
♥ Whatever else
You can PM me here and I'll give you my e-mail address!
Past examples are here: http://woofwoof.life
I received an email offering free sound effects from a UK games developer. I did a little more digging, and found they also offered a graphics table reference for those interested in developing retro-inspired games. Have a look if you're into making retro games, from the Atari ST to NeoGeo. This may be useful. Available via a CC0 license, no attribution required (but it would be nice, eh?).
48-hour game jam on Game Jolt. First part of the theme is "space," and it appears you can start working on it now. The second part will be announced on 19th May. Descriptor text is in German, but anyone is welcome to submit a game.
I got Clickteam Fusion 2.5 from the current HumbleBundle. I'm interested in getting familiar with it for fast prototyping. there are far fewer tutorials for Clickteam than there are for Unity and I like to look through tutorials and follow along. If anyone comes across good ones or happens to make some, please tell me so I can check them out.
What it says up top. I just don't really feel like coming up with anything entirely on my own at the moment, so if you make a new song anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes and put a download link here, i will make a game based on it. Just whatever you feel like making, whatever you like in the moment.
Hey!!!
I've been slowly adding things to this little wiki project of mine, and it'd be great if anyone here wanted to add a little something to it. Even just dump some helpful tutorial links, or write a little about a program you know, or correct my bad writing :)
I hope it'll be a really good resource for people who want to start making games, and people who, like me, just forget how to do everything every time they load Unity or Construct or whatever D:
Hey homewreckers,
Finals Fantasy was released recently, online at http://finalsfantasy.com It's a collection of SPECULATIVE PROJECTS FOR GAME ART STUDENTS. My favorite section is by Jake Elliott of Cardboard Computer who asks that you make 1,000 games or else you will fail.
An excerpt:
Assignment: Sit in a public place for 1 hour. As you sit, work on a hypertext game about whatever is -- or could be -- happening nearby. Speculate. Do this once a day for 30 days.
Assignment: Write 150 short instruction set games. Print and bind them in a book. Name the book after a citrus fruit. Here is an example, from "Grapefruit" by Yoko Ono.
Assignment: Write a Lisp program that generates HTML games. Generate 28 games.
QUESTION:
Why Lisp? What are other ways to write a program that would generate games?
