PARENTHOOD, a game made in one hour for the One Hour Game Jam. This time, the theme was That's Not Supposed to Be a Weapon. Apologies in advance if this hurts anyone's feelings.

Daddy is on the left, Mommy is on the right. Gifts fly across the screen, ready for the taking. Who is loved more by the kids?

X KEY: Daddy launches a projectile
M KEY: Mommy launches a projectile

1HGJ: Purple Vortex

PURPLE VORTEX, a game made in one hour for the One Hour Game Jam. This time, the theme was two colors.

PV is an arcade game where you shoot and try to destroy all the red and blue targets to progress to the next challenge level. However, targets can only be destroyed by a bullet of the same colour (you've seen Ikaruga, right?). If your turrets are hit with your own bullets, more targets will spawn. Don't have too many targets on the screen at once, or it's game over...!

CONTROLS:
MOUSE: move your targeting reticule
X KEY: shoot a blue bullet from the blue turret
Z KEY: shoot a red bullet from the red turret

1HGJ: Jumpin' Jigawatts

JUMPIN' JIGAWATTS, a game made in one hour for the One Hour Game Jam. The theme was Electricity.

OBJECTIVE
You are the little jolt of volts. Hop from the light switch along the cables (blue pathways) to tag each of the lightbulbs before the time runs out!

CONTROLS
Use the ARROW KEYS/CURSOR KEYS to move your volt.
Use the X KEY, Z KEY, or SPACEBAR to rotate the pathways.

Sometimes you'll need to travel without using the pathways, but don't do this too much or you will fizzle out!

I feel like I over-reached with this project, and it shows. The scoring system is kind of jacked-up right now for some reason but I couldn't figure it out. I think it's because I'm using the Score Object instead of a regular counter...I don't know. I'll be working on a fix soon enough.

1hgj - Elemental Tag

ELEMENTAL TAG, a game made for the One Hour Game Jam. The theme was 4 Elements.

You are the little yellow face, and surrounding you are "wands" representing four different elements of Earth, Fire, Wind, and Water. Collect the elemental crystals that float around the map by moving the like-coloured wand into them. This helps your wand expand. When it expands enough, you earn a score bonus and your wand returns to normal size. Do your best for a high score before the time runs out! (somewhere round 5,000 is pretty good).

CONTROLS:
ARROW KEYS/CURSOR KEYS: Move
A and D KEYS: Rotate your wands

Game made in CT Fusion. Background music from the playonloop.com website. Sound effects made by me in BFXR. Sprites and event coding by me.

1hgj - Second Guess Racetrack

SECOND-GUESS RACETRACK, a game made for the One Hour Game Jam. The theme this time around was 5 Seconds.

Click on a runner to select who you think will win the race, then click GO. After five seconds you can change your mind about who will win, though this reduces your winnings. The good news is that you earn more money while the racer you've picked is in the lead.

Press the -R- key to watch and bid on another race. Try to win 1,000 golds in 7 races. Enjoy!

This is updated from the 1hgj version, and now includes music, a crowd in the background, detailed instructions, the score bonus for your pick being in the lead, and the clickteam Pirate as mascot. I feel pretty good about this little game, for what it is.

1hgj - Incan Gold De-Make

This is INCAN GOLD DE-MAKE, made for the One Hour Game Jam #164. The theme was Your Favourite Game, But In The Simplest Way Possible or something like that. My personal favourite tabletop card game is an old card game called Incan Gold AKA Diamant so I decided to make that. I'm surprised it came together as well as it did. This is a single player version, and I plan on adding in multiple players for hotseat play.

CONTROLS:
Use the mouse and left-click on EXPLORE or FLEE. When a card is revealed, click on the card to continue the game.
Follow instructions to continue through the entire five expeditions into the temple.

Try to collect as much gold as possible, and do your best to increase your high score! Playable in nearly any browser.

Game coding by me in Clickteam Fusion. Background music is "Desert" by DST/Deceased Superior Technician and found at the gamesounds.xyz website. Artwork by me. Sound effects made by me in bfxr.

1hgj - Speedy Car

This is SPEEDY CAR, made for the One Hour Game Jam #165. The theme was One Object. The first thing that came to mind was a racing car, so I decided to follow that inspiration. I did this in less than an hour.

The object is to earn points by staying on the track and moving as fast as possible. If you go off the screen, the game is over. It's kind of dexterity, endurance, and push-your-luck combined into a retro-farty package. It was a fun experiment.

CONTROLS
UP ARROW: Accelerate. The more laps you complete, the faster you can go.
LEFT/RIGHT ARROW: Steer your car.

You cannot go in reverse. Do your best to make a high score. My personal best is somewhere round 3,300. Go for it!

All graphics by me (except the explosion, which was made by Clickteam), and coding was by me in Clickteam Fusion Dev. Background music by Play On Loop and found at the playonloop.com website. Beeping sound made by me in bfxr.

1hgj - Cookie Wizard

COOKIE WIZARD, made for the One Hour Game Jam. The theme was MAGIC.

Use the ARROW KEYS to guide the Cookie Wizard's magical energies to the enormous cookie on the other side of the dungeon. The faster you do it, the more points you will earn! Adding SUGAR or BUTTER to your cookie will make it even tastier (and you'll earn more points).

Playable in nearly any browser. Enjoy!

Event coding and some graphics by me. Background graphics, background music, and wizard sprite by Clickteam. Victory sound from Centipede (Atari, 1982).

PS: Sorry this does not include Spindley Q. Wizard. I've been sick.

1hgj - Decisions

DECISIONS, originally made for the One Hour Game Jam. The theme was Second Chance.

Imagine if you were just released from prison. What would you do next? Click your left mouse button on the choice you select.

PLEASE NOTE: there have been reports that this doesn't work as intended with the Chrome browser. However I've tested it on two different machines using Firefox, and have had no issues. Please switch browsers if at any time it seems like the game "hangs" on a screen with no more choices.

Music is "Tell Tale" by DST, found on the gamesounds.xyz website. Minimal SFX made by me in BFXR. All event coding by me in Clickteam Fusion.

Game is now version 1.1, providing a bit more feedback and some more interesting (forced) choices.

(PS: I made this game one-armed... I had surgery on a shoulder just a few days ago and it's still in a sling. Typing takes a surprisingly long time.)

NOBODY LIKES YOU, a game originally made for the One Hour Game Jam. The theme was Danger Zone.

You are a clown, trying to make a living. Collect the coins as they appear, but avoid the flags and the atoms they launch at you. To stay safe, you can hide in your Base at the center. Now updated to version 1.1, with an improved interface, background music, and a true Escape from New York vibe. This is one badass clown.
