Apparently you can't do it in VirtualBox with Windows XP as the guest. Anything else that can?

I'd consider DOSBox, but s3 24bpp support is spotty and very slow.

Another problem with KNP is that it flips red and blue channels when importing a 24-bit PCX.

I'm Ben and I'm a freelance designer. I've mostly worked for Dan Marshall's Size Five Games, specifically on Ben There, Dan That! and Time Gentlemen, Please!

As Dan and I have mentioned in a few interviews, we started designing games as teenagers on KnP and GF. People have shown interest in seeing these old, terrible games of ours, so I dug out the floppies. One of them was a one-disk game and easy to sort out (free download here: http://www.sizefivegames.com/forum/index.php?topic=4182.0).

I'm trying to record some videos of a couple of Games Factory games. They work fine in Windows 7, but Fraps just won't record them. Before I start trying out CamStudio and other (free) alternatives, is this a known issue that has a workaround? I've tried a couple of different frame rates in Fraps' settings to no avail.

Fluffy Tile World is a simple tile puzzle game. You have to step on each tile and make it to the end tile, but you can only step on each tile once! Amazing. There are also fluffy sheeps you can talk to.

This little macro shows a span of text only the first time you encounter it - for all subsequent times you visit a passage containing it, it will be absent. This can be done with variables, but this form lets you use a single pair of macro tags. This can be good for, let's say, IF-style verbose opening descriptions of scenes or rooms.

Install my <<Replace>> Macro Set to use this macro.

You can use <<becomes>> or <<gains>> to specify text that should appear only on the second visit, or the third, and so forth.

Usage examples:
* <<once>>I'm going now. Goodbye.<<endonce>>
* <<once>>You arrive at the bathhouse.<<becomes>>You return to the bathhouse a second time.<<endonce>>
* <<once>>You arrive at the garage.<<becomes>>Back at the garage.<<becomes>>Third visit to the garage.<<endonce>>

Notes:
* If many <<once>> macros containing exactly identical text are used in different passages, seeing one of them will hide the others.
