Bucolic BINKY and the Clone Catastrophe

screenshot.jpg
Game File:

More a children's story than a game. I needed to explore some stuff in Blitz3d - figuring out a workflow for creating cutscenes. That seemed horribly dry so I thought I'd make it more fun by doing something with gisbrecht's BINKY models. Done as a learning exercise but I thought I'd share it as some of you might like it.

Many thanks to gisbrecht for sharing the assets - hope you enjoy this little BINKY tribute.

Blink Gunner

Game File:

This is Blink Gunner, the teleport-powered dodge-em-up! Pilot the A.S.D.F. Sittingduck, a ship that cannot move but can teleport ("blink") to wherever you click the mouse. Once you blink, you must wait until you regain your juice (indicated by a ring around your ship) before you can blink again. Whenever you blink, a forcefield absorbs any enemy bullets within the ring, converting them into juice and making your ship recharge faster!

Controls:

Left click: teleport to cursor location if you have a full ring of juice.
Keyboard: do nothing.

Does anyone post here still?

Is this place dead?

Because I used to use KnP when I was 10 or so, and I'd love to get back in on it.

intermission!

Fellow trainsurfers, I am moving my ass interstate (Sydney, to be precise) in pursuit of the three pillars of society: beaches, bitches and a philosophy major. So, I will be MIA like olivia newton-john's boyfriend until I get my computer working, an internet connection, and a fixed address, and not necessarily in that order. Needless to say I will miss this month's KotMK. Also, needless to say, I'll be back, with a head full o' ideas and salt water.

Until then!

Keep the spirit alive, etc.

[I was rumaging around on my old computer and found a couple old Klik and Play games! They probably won't work on modern computers!]

So here's a story: I was at Global Game Jam in 2010, and was assigned to a team that didn't really know what they were doing. As I watched our programmer scratch his head, I was messing around in Klik and Play on my laptop because my art stuff was done. As the members of another group walked by us, one of them caught a glance of my screen and said: "Oh my God, is that *Klik and Play?*"

Dear reader, my new friend and I spent several sleepless, giddy hours that weekend coming up with absurd scenarios to add to this smorgasbord of Warioware-style goodness. The theme of that Global Game Jam was 'deception', and the idea was that there was a deceptive thing in each level. If I remember correctly, we decided against formally submitting it in case this was viewed as disrespectful to the organizers. But it was such a long time ago, I don't exactly remember. Anyway, good times! I remember it much better than the 'real' game we submitted. I think I didn't submit this here at the time because I lost contact with the person I worked with it on, but it's so far in the past it probably doesn't matter now. The moral of the story is that if someone recognizes KNP, they are good people.

DON'T TOUCH LAVA

A unique co-op platforming experience! Our two heroes have to reunite inside a volcano to get out safely. Either play by yourself to go across the whole level, or work with a partner to meet halfway!
Be on the lookout for sequels!

A short interactive poem making use of the video snippet and some scripts i've found around the web.
I thought this might be technically interesting to you guys, I might do more based on this system.
Sorry if you can't understand French, I did an English translation but apparently, it's bad, so I have to do another one.

This was made for let-off-studios. It was an incentive for providing over 12 comments in the 12 Days of Klikmas event way back in December. Oh, is it already February? Oh well. I was originally going to make a quick RPG Maker 2003 game, but I had this idea and I wanted to make it work in Unity. It was inspired by the following image, which let-off-studios provided:

Uses many free models from the Unity asset store.

Thanks to Google Image Search for the textures.

Sounds are mostly from RPG Maker 2003.
