A question we often face as humans is this:
Do I want pizza or a burger?
WELL, now thanks to this MICROAPP, you will be forced to make a choice in six seconds or get NOTHING.
A blocky creature hops around on screen, and you use the mouse to measure its various body parts (in pixels). Sometimes it's facing you, other times it's facing away, and other times it's looking to the left or right. You'll have to be patient if you want to document all of the dimensions... of the Boxy Hop-Dog.
Inspired by that classic question "The Pokédex lists the height of each Pokémon. How do they measure the Pokémon?"
The dimensions are randomized each time you play.
There are a few quirks (listed in the readme) but overall I'm very pleased with how this turned out. I was originally going to make 'better' looking art but I got so used to my placeholder art that I just ran with it. I did tweak the colors a bit to make each body part easier to tell apart for colorblind people and I hope I was successful in doing so. There is togglable text-to-speech just in case the X and Y values are too hard to read - I tried to make the color of the text easy to read against the background/Boxy Hop-Dog.
Made in Multimedia Fusion 2 with music made in Bosca Ceoil.
A cool 6 second .gif of the game is provided below
NOTE NOVEMBER 3RD 2021: I've added in a way to make the game mostly playable with just the mouse, as long as yours has a scroll wheel - you can use either the left or right mouse button to measure, clicking the middle button will bring up the entry screen and you can use the mouse wheel to scroll up or down to add/subtract values to the currently selected entry field. The latter method takes a little while longer than using the number keys but it's definitely doable.

for 2018 onwards i want to comment on every game that i play here. that way not only do i keep track of what i play but also people like comments, right? i know i do.
i will also try to review all/most games on itch and steam. i usually write for steam in a way that will help me remember what i felt when i played the game. the itch reviews are basically a way of remembering what i play because itch puts everything i rate into a collection but i also give a little feedback.
i'm keeping track of the games i play in a gmail draft. i've been good at this so far but i know i'll fall off the wagon. there are some screenshots
before 2018 i never really kept track of what i played in what year which makes me sad because i do like the idea of separating games by year. it is a normal human thing to divide things up into remember bits and i'm not ashamed to admit that i'm human and also i do this. i almost never play things the year they are released except for g.t.games and an occasional itch game. for some reason i like being behind the curve.
i was gonna try to do something like 'post a thing about a game every day in 2018' but i don't know what to do for that so i haven't done it yet so i failed lol but idk i will try to think of something
also i am playing the ultimate doom for the first time. i had the gba version only and now i'm playing gzdoom. i feel bad playing such a popular game instead of trashgames but i like it a lot and also i will play doom 2 and final doom and i'm very excited to play doom 2 wads which goes back to independent game people . on steam i play mostly indie games but i do play popular ones like unreal . does that make me a 'gamer' i hope not lol
Press a key when the hidden colour matches the non-hidden colour! In the end, your score is measured in particles.
Made for the GDC Noisebridge Jam 2012.
YOU provide the sound effects in this game! when the game prompts you, make the sound -- or read the provided dialogue -- as best you can!
don't do what donny don't does.
I made this for fun and for your entertainment.

Poor snake is feeling queasy. All the 90 degree turns are making him nauseous. Thanks to @zarawesome for the idea.
It feels a little weird just throwing the word "Trainwreck" all over the place, like a proper noun with an established meaning. Is it cool that I'm essentially using "trainwreck" as the name of a genre? Because if there's a better shorthand to refer to the sorts of games this site's about, I'm open to suggestions.
My first Knytt Stories Game. Game Jams are so helpful to me. It makes me execute something rather than just testing indefinitely.
Also, She wasn't intended to be able to run. I kept deselecting the run ability in "Set Start Pos" but it never took.
