Entry #3 - Game: "These Automatic Arms"

screenshot103.png

Dear Diary,

I finished a game today, my first. It's not the one I told you about before. I wish you had arms so you could play it. It's called "These automatic arms." But they're bad arms, not like the arms you would have if you had arms. Oh, diary, one day I will buy you prostheses and glue them to your frail, electronic pages.

Yours,
nobody.

Game File (Linux):

A game featuring a requiem, a skateboard, a seed, a sunrise, a spirit, and a pomegranate. The spirits will provide instructions in-game.

Give it some time to start. The OGG Vorbis decoder is really slow for some reason.

Hope you enjoy, Alraune!

Ladies' Auxiliary Klik of the Month Ball #16

Sun, Feb 20 2011 09:00 AM
02/20/2011 - 16:00
Etc/GMT

Is the regular Klik of the Month Klub at an absurdly inconvenient time? Then try the Ladies' Auxiliary Klik of the Month Ball! (Ladies' Auxiliary Klik of the Month Ball is open to all genders and time zones.) The Ball takes place at 4PM GMT -- check that link to see what time that falls on for you.

The rules are the same: You get two hours to make a game in Klik & Play. If Klik & Play is a hindrance rather than a boon to your creativity, feel free to dump it for the game creation tool of your choice. If you're new to Klik & Play, check out our Learning KNP FAQ.

It's no fun making games by yourself in a vacuum, so make sure to stop by IRC. Our server is irc.freenode.net, and our channel is #glorioustrainwrecks. There's also got a Mumble voice chat server -- just connect to glorioustrainwrecks.com using Mumble and you can talk to us like real human beings!

After you've made your game, you should upload it here!

For more information, check out the N00B FAQ.

Sign up below if you'd like to be reminded the day before the ball!

TEK DEMO is the full game

Let me repeat that: TEK DEMO is the full game. (Not a demo)

You are Tek Demo, on a quest to find the missing gems! Marvel at the lush realistic graphics, and unbelievable advanced special effects! Featuring no less than three title screens, Tek Demo is my most ambitious KnP trainwreck to date. By my records, the first version of this game's engine is over 8 YEARS OLD, and was never released online. After hearing about Glorious Trainwrecks on Tigsource (which I heard about for... other reasons) I knew I had to finally complete a game using this engine/trick/technique/whatever. So this is my gift to you, internet. A little bit of knowledge for an obsolete game maker nobody uses anymore. I hope you like it!

note: If the full version starts acting weird at some point, try the lite version. It has less data, which might avoid the collision detection freezing up.

I was going to make some sort of shmup tower defense thing where you place towers/options/multiples around the screen and try to avoid being killed by waves of enemies without having weapons on the player "ship" itself, but then I didn't feel like making waves of enemies and noticed that I had already basically made potential obstacles in making the towers.

The red bar draining at the top indicates when the next tower will spawn. When it empties, a new tower is placed at your current position. After another few seconds, the tower goes into "active" mode. Once active, the tower fires bullets at a set rate. Survive for as long as possible and set that high score!

Arrows - move
Shift - slow movement speed

MYCOTERROR ]|[ UNOFFICIAL WALKTHROUGH

cover.png

You've been stuck on this boss for hours. Maybe you're missing something? You thought you were just too tired last night, but still lost when you tried again this morning - it just dragged it out longer.

It's almost time for work, but maybe you can just branch off a guide and read it on your commute...

Cincinnati Pole Game

cincinattiPromo.JPG

Cincinnati Pole Game Directions:

Welcome to the Cincinnati Pole Game!
This game exists within a larger simulated space, so I am providing you with directions on how to get to the Cincinnati Pole Game where you can start pole-climbing! Does that sound good?
Ok.

When you start in the lobby, look for the green door. Go through that green door. Don't be concerned when you begin to fall, just enjoy the sights!
You will eventually fall into an area where there is a pink side and a green side. On the pink side of the area, there is a white train-station. There is only one train that comes there and it is the one you want to get on.
The train-ride is only about a minute long.
Once you get off the train you will be in Cincinnati. You'll need to walk through the Central Business District. Take a left when leaving the train-station and then when you get to a corner that bends left, take that street. When you come out you should be at the river park where the Cincinnati Pole Game is located. Have fun climbing the pole. When facing the pole and close, use the mouse button and spacebar to climb. See if you can ring the bell on top!
