Chip's Challenge 2015 Retro Level Pack Adventure Collection For Fans Of All Skill Levels Or None Applicable (Version 0.999)

"Without thought conciousness, all creation is meaningless." - Chuck Summers, Challenging Thoughts

Collected here is 10 levels made by me, for you, in CCTools (or Channel Cipher Tautology of old longing stocks); truly the tool for the modern designer. It is available pre-packaged in a pre-configured copy of Tile World so any novice or expert or newcomer or extreme will be able to find an easy start and launch to get playing. Use the arrow keys and enter key to go! (Note: Tilde's Wonders is not owned by me, but I packaged it into this release for convenience of all users. The story follows below...)

Chapman's cinders fell down from the ceiling as you careen across the cavernous cliff-face known only as "BLISS"! So is the journey that leads you to falling as well, down into the barren pits known only as The Challenge Rooms Of Chipmunk's Crevice. Can you complete these ten mind bending puzzlers? No, nobody can! Thankfully, by pressing G at the start of a level or after being defeated horrible or after pressing Ctrl+R, you can enter one of the following passwords (in an unknown, mysterious order...) to get to one of the other 10 levels, even maybe the one you're on now! Check it out:

For easier perusal, these level signifiers are available to all in the download folder. Figure out the secret key codes to unlock your personal access! Now, onto continuing the conversation around Clammy Chippy's Challenging Chapsticks. Each level is an idea, or several, put together, or arranged, or something like that. Not all of them are as interesting to play as they were for me to make, not all of them take as long to finish as they took me to make. It's true! That's why you can access any level you want, in a pre-determined order outside of the natural lineage, should you find any of them frustrating.

By lowering the barrier of access to progression, the only thing that counts now is getting the highest overall score- but who's keeping track? Only the dedicated few ever will, so they can be ignored. What really matters is, in the words of Chuck Summers, "EXPERIENCE IS THE MEDIUM!". And I would agree. These levels ask for no more attention than some idle curiosity, and questioning:

Is level 7 really meant to be playable? How long did it take to make a pair of oppositional levels? Why do I always need to pick up these chips? Why did you ruin your mixtape like progression of ideology present throughout the normal arrangement of levels by making people over-consider the idea to play through the levels haphazardly at random, by perusing the selection of passwords, without even having to put in the effort to read the forums at GamerFAQS? Just how many levels are there? Are you going to stop telling me what to think?

All of these have answers, but how many can you figure out on your own?! You'll have to crack open your copy of Chilly Chambers right now, and walk into every block you see to figure it all out for yourself. No guidance will be provided other than that already listed. The only possible information that would be useful for those who don't have the dedication to walk into every possible combination of blocks as I do: try walking into anything you don't understand in Delightful Designs, it might just open your eyes.

Ruff & Ravi Defeat the Plutonian Vampires (for Mariken)

Promotional Image.png
Game File:

Thanks for supporting me for 8+ years Glorious Trainwrecks!!

About the Game

"Ruff & Ravi Defeat the Plutonian Vampires". A new adventure and narrative collection, coming straight to your computer screen!

Ruff the dog, boyfriend to the famous Binky of the Binky series, gets to star in his own digital game, for the first* time! In it, you will guide him and his new friend Ravi the rat to save Pluto from failed comedian Dracula! Can you make it through 12 levels of easy to moderately complicated puzzles?

Meanwhile, in real life, watch Ruff the dog and Ravi the rat star in their own cinematic series of cutscenes! In them, you will watch Ruff and Ravi try to unravel the mysteries of Pluto, the rat planet, to defeat Dracula! Can they learn the mysteries of the Cookie of Power, before it's too late?

Only you could possibly figure out these puzzles and plot resolutions, by playing Ruff & Ravi Defeat the Plutonian Vampires...

* it might not be the first time I'm not sure actually.

Getting Started

Launch "Ruff and Ravi.exe" to begin playing.

The game automatically saves any changes to your settings, but level/cutscene progress is not saved. However, every level and cutscene is available from the start, from the "Scene Select" option available from the main menu. Have fun!

Linux Support

Ruff & Ravi has been completely playtested on Ubuntu using WINE!

A couple known issues are detailed here:

If you are using 64-bit Linux, and the game starts without any sound, you might be missing 32-bit libraries for your default sound device. As a common example, if your setup is PulseAudio on 64-bit Debian/Ubuntu, you can install 32-bit libraries using the apt-get utility: apt-get install libpulse0:i386

During playtesting, cutscenes have been occasionally found unresponsive. If this happens, you'll have to close the application and re-open it. However, you can go straight back to the cutscene using the "Scene Select" page.

More Information

Further instructions can be found from the in-game hints, as well as "CONTROLS.txt" in the game download. You can also read "letter.txt" for my personal discussion of the game, and "credits.txt" to see what all made the game possible! You can check your current game version and what changes have been made in "changelog.txt".

Dimensions of the Boxy Hop-Dog

itchthumbnail.png

A blocky creature hops around on screen, and you use the mouse to measure its various body parts (in pixels). Sometimes it's facing you, other times it's facing away, and other times it's looking to the left or right. You'll have to be patient if you want to document all of the dimensions... of the Boxy Hop-Dog.

Inspired by that classic question "The Pokédex lists the height of each Pokémon. How do they measure the Pokémon?"

The dimensions are randomized each time you play.

There are a few quirks (listed in the readme) but overall I'm very pleased with how this turned out. I was originally going to make 'better' looking art but I got so used to my placeholder art that I just ran with it. I did tweak the colors a bit to make each body part easier to tell apart for colorblind people and I hope I was successful in doing so. There is togglable text-to-speech just in case the X and Y values are too hard to read - I tried to make the color of the text easy to read against the background/Boxy Hop-Dog.

Made in Multimedia Fusion 2 with music made in Bosca Ceoil.

A cool 6 second .gif of the game is provided below

NOTE NOVEMBER 3RD 2021: I've added in a way to make the game mostly playable with just the mouse, as long as yours has a scroll wheel - you can use either the left or right mouse button to measure, clicking the middle button will bring up the entry screen and you can use the mouse wheel to scroll up or down to add/subtract values to the currently selected entry field. The latter method takes a little while longer than using the number keys but it's definitely doable.
