Fall Free

screenshot123.png

This started out as basically a trainwrecky thing for a weekly themed creative jam my friends and I do (or used to do--it's kind of fizzled) a few months ago where the theme was "freefall." After a couple hours, I ended up liking what I was working on quite a bit, so I decided to spend some time polishing the movement and the level design.

I'd like whatever feedback I can get. I'm thinking it's going to be just a one-level game, meaning it's going to run all of about 3 or 4 minutes from start to finish at the longest. I'm debating about whether or not to insert a checkpoint or three.

(I intend to also implement an endless mode, either as an alternate gameplay mode or as a separate release.)

Here's the current version, which isn't yet a complete build (so when you get to the end, there's just endless space). I've made it in Game Maker, so it's a Windows executable.

Fall Free 12/10/2011 (24 MB)

Also, the file's kind of huge, because I've included three samples of the kind of music I'm thinking of using, since I'm also kindasorta hoping I might be able to find some musically inclined person who thinks they might enjoy composing an original track for the BGM! To change the music, press "1, "2," or "3" either at the title screen, or before you restart the level after you die.

Arrow keys to move. X to use your fall-dash power.

Thanks to anyone who checks this out!

Imported - Zone Jogger (In Glorious HD)

Original description:
--------------------

Ode to Zone Runner. With ooouuuttttliiiinneees. And bad animation. Also uses slightly irritating/unfitting stock samples from the TGF libraries. Just like the original!

I started this for the KotM #33, but didn't get finished. So I decided to go over the two hour period to bring you this.

There are ten levels in total: nine normal levels, and one boss(!!!) level. Most of the stages are designed to be quite daunting, and they also poke fun at some of the design flaws and eccentricities in the Zone Runner games. You get unlimited lives since some stages are a bit... unfair.

Made in MMF2. Needs DirectX 8 hardware acceleration to run. And 1280x800 resolution or higher.

Don't worry, Circy. You're still an awesome guy.

SO MANY PRETTY FLOWERS... ENJOY THIS ADVENTURE PILGRIM... SHIFT+ARROWS TO SHOOT, ARROWS TO MOVE. SOUNDTRACK is HERE including ptf and WAV. Original Tracks, Tracks used: Tealgun, wrenchbaron, and bigrose. There's a little bit of plot and background but it sort of fades away as I decide to make it more ambient since most ZZT-style games contain too much.

Twine: mix HTML tags and Twine markup syntax

Update: This script is now built into Twine 1.4! It is no longer necessary to install it.

Just now I was thinking to myself, "Why is it that inline HTML must be stuck between the <html> tags in Twine, anyway? Would it be possible to make HTML usable intersperced with Twine syntax?" So I decided to give it a try. The resulting Javascript code is as follows:

Obsolete script removed: use Twine 1.4

This code will allow you to put HTML tags in Twine passage text, and have them function in the compiled game. Note: it requires all HTML tags to be properly closed, with the exception of the so-called "void tags" that never have a closing pair (br, hr, area, img, input, embed, param, source, track). Unmatched end tags will be ignored!

Feel free to report any bugs to @webbedspace.
