Mummenschanz

Mum screen.png

Sergio and I were talking about including a new Knytt tutorial for the Babycastles expo, and I remembered this old tutorial I was tooling around with. It's called Mummenschanz, and like the acting troupe it takes its name from, it tries to convey its message through a minimum of words. I'm not sure if I totally succeeded at it, but here it is anyway! (With music by Kinetic Law.)

Update: Now with minor improvements, thanks to Sergio.

Knytt Stories Again: Bella Wolpeck

bella_screen.png

Believe or not, but this is the very first Knytt Story I started working on. I used it as a sort of practice space in the very beginning, and it branched out from there. Anyway, this is about a knytt who makes a trip back home, but there are some surprises along the way. Hope you have fun.

The Public Tarot: Generative Fortunes

Screen Shot 2018-02-13 at 12.37.50 AM.png

A generative tarot reader by Marilyn Roxie. The Public Tarot was made with open-source, interactive fiction software Twine. Purple text indicates word associations with the 78 Rider-Waite tarot images given by 31 survey respondents who ranged in familiarity or lack thereof with the tarot. These responses were then remixed with text from A.E. Waite's The Pictorial Key to the Tarot (1911), which is now in the public domain.

Also available on itch.io: https://marilynroxie.itch.io/thepublictarot

The tarot card images are of the 1909 Rider-Waite deck illustrated by Pamela Coleman Smith, originally scanned by Holly Voley and sourced from the Internet Sacred Text Archive. These images are in the public domain and have been passed through a 16-bit color filter.

Special thanks to survey-takers, troubleshooters, and play-testers:

Hune Ceaulage, ChapelR, Barbara D’Aversa, Devon, the Digital Futures class at Manchester Metropolitan University, feodoric, GoblinSpaceWizard, Nolan Harris, Kelly Jones, Michelle Jones, Ciel King-Williams, Ryan Daniel Koenig, litrouke, The Mad Exile, Ruth Miller, Natari, Ocean, Fex Orumwense, Daisy Polaski, Elsie Profilio, qdot, Ruune, Ant Shea, Tala, Nicholas van der Waard, Wendy, Nam Vo, Bishop Xiong, and all anonymous survey respondents.

Klipart Konundrum!

Sat, Jan 22 2011 05:00 PM
01/22/2011 - 19:00
01/22/2011 - 21:00
Etc/GMT-5

You are tasked with creating a game in two hours that uses both of these sprites in a prominent role:

Ground rules: Minor sprite edits are fine, as long as you don't try to change the identity of the sprites. Also be sure you work both sprites into major roles, preferably on the same frame/screen together at some point in your game. Outside of that, go nuts!

Do it this Saturday on the 22nd, same time as Klik of the Month Klub!

Do eeeet!

You'll probably want to upload the game here when you're done with it.
