Barney Mutilator is a game I wrote when I was fourteen, the internet was fresh and exciting, I was learning the C programming language for the first time, and oh man did everyone on the internet hate Barney the Dinosaur, holy shit. This was my contribution. I totally posted this game on alt.barney.dinosaur.die.die.die and uploaded it to cdrom.com. Shawn Hargreaves even posted a link to it on the official Allegro site, back in the day, which pretty much validated my existence.

Several anti-Barney games that came afterwards ripped off my title screen graphic and, ahem, storyline. None were quite so pointless nor graphic. Nothing is quite like Barney Mutilator, really.

It's a Zelda parody without dedicated buttons for attack and block. You must physically move your sword over enemies, but your sprite never flips, so you can only attack enemies from one side. Dungeons are rather long and death is rather punishing: I've only encountered but not beaten one boss.

It was made for EGW's "Cheap Clone" theme, which may prove to be a good source of trainwrecks as the months pass.

The Klik of the Month Klub meets right here on this very website on the third Saturday of every month at 4pm Pacific Time (taking daylight savings into consideration) for a two hour Klik & Play Showdown. Everyone who participates gets two hours to create something from scratch in Klik & Play. Abusing the stock objects is encouraged. If you really loathe Klik & Play you can use whatever game development platform you want. Two hours is a pretty tight time limit, though, so choose wisely!

Games made for Kackling Korpse of the Monster Klaw #64

A friend of mine is helping teach a game design course at uni. Last week, he briefly described to me one of the game ideas one of the game design teams threw out earlier in the semester. This game is a quick prototype based on a partial second-hand understanding of their rejected design, made in Klik & Play.

Controls:
Left/Right: Walk
Shift: Jump
Ctrl: Flip

You must defend cyber node Proxis from the shapes.
Squares must be shot with the same color.
Triangles must be shot with the different color.

Bunch of bits I thought might be fun to play with, but fashioned into some kind of head that bashes itself against some of the things I hate about videogames.

Can it be fun? I don't know.
