MURDER PEOPLE BLARRGH
Knytt Swapsies, with Puzzlescript games. Each person starts the first half of one game, then finishes up the second half of another game!
When you create your game on Part 1:
* Keep it simple. If you can't, comment your code (in parentheses). It should be fairly easy for other people to make sense of how your game functions.
* In the title, mark it as INCOMPLETE.
* Put your name in the author field!
* Your game should primarily be a puzzle game. This event is much simpler when everyone's working with the same genre.
* Post the game link in the comments.
When you receive your game on Part 2:
* Add credit by putting "& [your name]" in the author field, after the first author.
* Try to make at least half as many levels as you were given. If you received it with 10 levels, make at least 5 more. This rule does not apply if your predecessor made an insane amount of levels (around 30).
* Putting in new mechanics/objects/rules is allowed and encouraged, but your half still needs to look and play like the first half.
* Try to delete as little of your predecessor's code (including levels, rules and objects) as possible, unless you need to restructure it to allow more objects/interactions.
* Submit the game marked as COMPLETE. You do not need to replace the INCOMPLETE version with your version.
All levels of skill are allowed!
From 9/24/2017 to 10/08/2017 is Part 1. You will be making the first half of your game.
From 10/09/2017 to 10/23/2017 is Part 2. Signups will be closed, and you will be finishing the last half of someone else's game.

update: EVENT BEGIN!!
altogether 10 people signed up which makes 5 beautiful pairs and thus 5 beautiful games, in time.
For the 4 people who didn't explicitly choose a collaborator i couldn't see any obvious matches so i chose randomly, i hope that's ok. so we have:
sergio <----?-----> nilson
mr.a <----?-----> let-off studios
sylvie <----------> thesycophant
everythingstaken <----------> mno
karen <----------> jacqueline
Have fun and good luck!
If anyone missed the start date you are still very welcome to take part, just leave a comment.

Original description:
it is very similar to tennis, except instead of enemies you are friends and instead of a ball you use a game or game-adjacent object.
in more detail:
1. find a collaborator (*)
2. with your collaborator decide on a format (flickgame, bitsy, unity project, polystyrene, etc). Discuss time constraints (**), boundaries (***) or any adjustments to the default rules that you would like to have in place.
3. decide who will make the first turn. this can be by coin toss, duel, or more imaginative procedure
4. someone makes the first turn.
5. other person makes some modifications (****) to these files and sends them back. Don't talk about what you've done!
6. repeat this back-and-forth until you both decide the game is finished or a predetermined time-limit is reached.
7. put the game on glorioustrainwrecks.com so that we can play it :)
(*) Easiest way to do find a collaborator is to post a comment on this event. Maybe mention what kind of tools or formats you would be interested in working with. If you have strong preferences about duration of turns or the overall process, or about anything else, mention that too. I will try to assign pairings based on tools/preferences, or randomly otherwise. Also feel free to figure out your own pairing or sign up with somebody you already know.
(**) Let's say as a default, each turn should be about 1-2 weeks, and the overall time limit is 6 months.
Feel free to disregard these limits and choose your own. If you want to do the whole game in a lightning week of overnight turns, go for it. Multi-generational familial collaborations spanning centuries are also permissible. You should figure out what works for the two of you before beginning.
(***) Probably best to avoid anything illegal, explicitly sexual, or otherwise confronting, unless you are both ok with it. You are strongly encouraged to discuss beforehand what kind of content you are or aren't comfortable with. And obviously when sharing on GT or elsewhere be mindful of your audience.
(****) in my mind this modification can be anything you choose - add things, delete things, arrange things as you like. deleting the entire project is fair game if you feel it is right. but - if you don't agree with me on this, figure out constraints with your collaborator before you begin.
in my opinion it's best to avoid discussing the changes you are making. Try to communicate through the changes you make instead.
Technical questions ('how do i open this type of file?' etc) are good and encouraged.
For sending the project folder back and forth, just zipping it up and sending over email has worked for me in the past. Or use google drive or github if you're into that kind of thing. Should be even easier with flickgame and other web-based tools.
very importantly please be kind and respectful to one another!!
a small experiment i made with the python programming language. it' s a visual novel. features voice acting by me.
Climb to the top and defeat the judge to win!!!

REVISITED FOR MAXIMUM PLEASURE
I know that you're interested in playing games, but did you even wanted to make one? Here it goes...
--------
I've recently stumbled upon this gem. It is great game making tool. It is also free (as in free beer) to use and very easy. Let's say that if you worked with Clickteam's TGF/MMF series or Construct, you'll quickly learn it (matter of few hours).
IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR LINUX USERS: Temporarily Linux version is broken (I've found bug preventing it from working), so you'll need to use this download link: http://www.compilgames.net/dl/gd2010543linux.tar.lzma.
--------
Above message was posted by me on other board (except of first line and "-------" things) and because of that this post have some degree of inconsistency.
Anyway, this program is very good as it require no programming knowledge AT ALL - you can make game without coding a line! But, if you want, you can use C++ code in your project. Because of that this tool is very flexible. And you can make your game for all most used platforms (Windows, Mac and Linux). Very liberal license also allows you to sell games made with this tool without paying any royalties to CompilGames (of course it would be fair to donate them - I'll do it whenever I get paid this month and I rarely buy software/donate software projects)
Update: this feature is now built into Twine 1.4! This behaviour is now the default and this page is no longer necessary.
This script allows Sugarcane to use HTML5 history management instead of URL hash strings to alter the browser history. This means that various non-deterministic game state changes (random numbers, player data input, state changes inside <<replace>>
macros, etc.) will be properly remembered when you use the browser's Back button. This code also updates <<back>>
and <<return>>
and the Rewind menu.
Obsolete script removed: use Twine 1.4
Feel free to report any bugs to @webbedspace.
