Dr. Creepinscare's Pumpkin Patch Match

pumpkinscreen1.png
Game File (Mac):

Dr. Creepinscare is here to invite you to test your wits and reflexes in his fiendish pumpkin patch! Have a spooky good time placing the falling pumpkins into special arrangements to clear the field. The mad genius of Dr. Creepinscare has devised it, though, that all the pumpkins have similarly carved faces. Be alert!

Skulls and stones may try to get in your way, but you'll get the better of them!

If you do well, Dr. Creepinscare's kitty cat might pay you a special visit!

Make 2x2, 3x2, or 3x3 (with something else in the middle) pumpkin patch shapes to earn points! See if you can do better than Dr. Creepinscare himself!

This game features a tour de force vocal performance by Boris, my wife's cat.

I like to imagine this as a forgotten licensed game for an obscure children's TV property.

Dark Pong

Game File:

"I was thirty seconds in, and I remember remarking in an IM window off to the side that this game was only 'dark' insofar as it was darkening my opinion of it. And then the power went out. Bam, instant three stars."

This is a BIT.TRIP BEAT inspired variant of Pong and/or Breakout. You have no opponent, but the ball obeys gravity and will arc down to you after you knock it upward. There's a second, subtler twist, though, so keep playing to see what it is.

Mouse to move.
Click to place the first ball.
Get the ball to a height of 100 to unlock Hard Mode.

Answer them incorrectly for points instead

Try to avoid letting wrong answers escape, it will cost you points.

You Have to Put the Juni in the Machine

Healy has a habit of uploading games for us on her birthday here, but I've turned the tables on her! As far as I can tell she hasn't seen this Knytt Stories level yet, but I figured there might be other people here interested in checking it out.

Lost Game

The following rules were printed on ancient clay tablets unearthed in Sabrabulko in the 1780s. In an astounding coincidence the words seem to describe, in english, a game similar to Hungry Hungry Hippos. In fact they are written in a long forgotten cultic language. In that language every word has a vastly different meaning and the grammar is not like any contemporary language. The instructions are rife with subtext and implications that would have been known to initiates of the cult, but have since been lost to time. How was that ancient game played? We will never know.

RULES:
PUT 100 STONE BEADS INTO A LARGE AND SHALLOW BOWL
EACH PLAYER USES A CLAY CUP TO SCOOP THE BEADS OFF
THE BOWL INTO THEIR FREE HAND. THEY MUST NOT TOUCH
THE BEADS WITH THEIR FINGERS.
WHOEVER GETS THE MOST BEADS WINS

This is my first time actually coding a game, so I thought I'd work with the simplest structure I thought possible: visual novels. In no way could I reach the 2 hour mark with absolutely no code experience for this event, so I extended it to 2 days. In that time, I learned a lot and had to figure a few things out on my own. Still, when I hit that 2 day mark, I had to put it down. The whole concept was to take a space shmup I have never played and make a back story to it (since translations were fantastically bad back then).

I logically chose the game with the giant fish and this is what came of it.
