Poop poop poop.

Made in Construct. :3 (No music, sorry!)

Edit: Decided to add silly music in the end. It makes me 10 minutes late, but that's ok 'cos I finished 10 minutes early (and messed around for 10 minutes in between XD )

Site secrets!

Did you know that there are SECRET URLS which give you interesting things to play with?

  1. glorioustrainwrecks.com/games shows you a list of every game posted to the site since the Pirate Kart II, initially sorted by date.
  2. glorioustrainwrecks.com/randomgames gives you the same list, but randomly sorted!
  3. glorioustrainwrecks.com/randomposts shows you a bunch of random shit that people have posted which may or may not be games. (I just added this one, it's fun.)
  4. glorioustrainwrecks.com/view/hostedwreck was my original attempt at a games list; it shows you a list of every non-game post with an attachment, sorted by date. So when people upload games as blog posts, they show up there instead of the main games list.

I should put some of these up as menu items or something, but I keep putting it off in favour of a complete redesign, which is maybe not the brightest idea. Until then, have fun!

The Unbreakable Chain (Kickstarter)

The Unbreakable Chain is a forthcoming game by Leon Sadler, co-founder of FAMICON, the group responsible for klik klassics such as RE: Get To Schol On Time. The combination of high-concept ideas and questionable MSPaint graphics on display here practically guarantees this game will be a fascinating trainwreck.

The PC version looks to be a sure thing, but if the campaign succeeds there will be iOS, Xbox and possibly Flash ports. I hope it raises the extra $200 or so it needs to succeed! Maybe you can help?

Project updates

  1. MarMOTS! I've just pushed an update to the server that keeps the chat logs around after everyone leaves the room. In fact, now, for the first time, it even keeps the chat logs around even after I update the server. I missed those chatlogs, a lot. Probably next I'm going to make some tweaks to not have every drawing in memory all the time.
  2. Kliffy! This is the engine I built to build Richard and Larry Build A Time Machine, and I guess it has a webpage now and some source code released. Look, if you're interested!
  3. KlikPunk! Uhh no news on that front but I did discover that Gleed2D does like most of what I wanted to do, I think? It does have the annoying quality that it squishes graphics so that the size is a multiple of 256, which is just baffling really.

I've also been doing some non-gamey stuff (a Boxee app that launches games and has a not-entirely-stupid way of building the list, an experiment with Twilio's SMS-sending capabilities to bug me about stuff) but I guess I don't have as much to say about it as I thought?

2020 GT Family Reunion

Hey there, GT fam! It's time for the 2020 Glorious Trainwrecks Family Reunion!!!

Now is a perfect time to comb through the submissions here at Glorious Trainwrecks, past and present, and show some comment love! There are still a few submissions here that haven't seen one measly little mention from visitors... And this is where you come in.

HOW DO I DO THIS?
It's pretty easy. Just look through the enormous list of games here at Glorious Trainwrecks for one that has 0 comments. Check it out, play it, and leave a comment. It's that simple!

Maybe there's a game you've checked out and enjoyed something about it, but you just never had the chance to post a comment. This is your golden opportunity (even if it already has a comment or two, or a few). It's all about showing appreciation for someone's effort, energy, and the willingness to put somethin' out there.

WHERE DO I FIND THEM?
Well, you can follow the "more" link below the list of Recent Games over there on the left, but I've taken the liberty of reposting it right here, just for you: https://www.glorioustrainwrecks.com/games

WHAT DO I GET OUT OF THIS?
Well, not only will you have that warm n' fuzzy feeling that consumes you when you've shown someone else you care... Not only will that person feel the gratification that comes from learning that someone else cared enough to make a mention about one of their games... But if you make at least five comments during the Family Reunion (and keep record of them below in the comments) I will also comb the depths of the let-off studios recipe book, and share with you what I've come up with! Think of this as photographic evidence of a prize or something.

Oh... And did I mention that you'll be sampling a fantastic game, tool, or toy developed by someone right here in the Glorious Trainwrecks community? Hell yeah! They made it for you to enjoy. Isn't that cool?

So hop to it! In the words of our founder, SpindleyQ, "Glorious Trainwrecks has always been about being a comfortable place where people are kind to each other." Let's come together as a virtual family and let the world know just how kickass the contributors and guests of Glorious Trainwrecks can be.
