Spirograph Skies

spirographskies.png

This is basically The Terrible Terrible Turret multiplied by 12. Though, this really began as a hack of Helipong.

Light up the night sky with a scintillating array of automatic laser fire! Use the arrows to rotate the ring of cannons, and see how long you can last before they are destroyed in a glorious blaze.

TIP: Get a friend to watch you play so they can tell you how cool the screen looks.

Oh, and here's something neat: unlike The Terrible Terrible Turret, I randomised the variables in the attack progression sequence. So, you'll get a slightly different kind of laser show every time you play.

running katelabs on linux

was playing some katelabs worlds today and remembered that info about this isn't anywhere i can find, so here's how to run katelabs on linux (tested on debian 11)

1. create a new 32-BIT wineprefix:
WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX="/home/YOUR_USERNAME/.katelabs" winecfg

! important ! only works with a 32 bit wineprefix - some of the stuff below will fail to install otherwise

2. install necessary stuff with winetricks:
WINEPREFIX="/home/YOUR_USERNAME/.katelabs" winetricks amstream dmband dmcompos dmime dmloader dmscript dmstyle dmsynth dmusic dmusic32 dsound dswave qasf qcap qdvd qedit quartz vcrun6 xvid

after doing this you should no longer get a "memory access violation" error after selecting the resolution

I make no apologies for this. Made in the hour and a half before I had to go to work. I included the music in the zip file because I couldn't figure out how to add it in Construct...

DON'T GET TRICKED INTO BUYING SHIT FROM A SHODDY MARKETPLACE

Game File:

Well, this game took a sudden turn from what it was originally gonna be lol.

Not gonna say much about this game, play it and find out ye.

Oh, one last thing; wait around a bit on the white screens.

2018 Extra Notes: Ahhh, this classic. I have no idea what the voice I did in the title screen and game over screen is about but. Yeah. Otherwise this is a short and silly romp. Not the best thing I've ever made, but it's decent.

Run Around And Kill Everything!

Screenshot-halfsize.png

[UPDATE: I created a post-compo version with sound effects, music, and a lot less enemies! http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/46767238/KlikNPlay71_post_compo/index.html ]

Use your mouse to make your character (the green rectangle) run around the screen. Avoid the many, many Enemies (the red rectangles) - they will kill you if they touch you!

Click the left mouse button to shoot bullets (the pink rectangles) in the direction that you are moving. Bullets will kill Enemies they touch, and can kill many Enemies in a straight line! The faster your character is moving, the faster the bullets will fly!

Now Run Around And Kill Everything!!!

(This game requires that you have the Silverlight 2 web browser plug-in installed on your computer. This is a free, quick download from Microsoft).

This is my first ever entry into the Klik of the Month Klub.
I discovered (too late!) that because I have Windows 7 64-bit, I can not use the Klik N Play tool. Instead I made a game in Silverlight. Original version done in 90 minutes in time for the 2am (London time) deadline. Final version done 45 minutes later.

Here is my work log (in London time, so 00:00 midnight is 4pm Pacific time) :

00:18 Got home from party, and downloaded Klik & Play.
00:27 Searched for info on running KNP on 64-bit Windows. Found it will take hours to resolve. Looked for alternatives.
00:35 Decided to make a Silverlight game in 90 minutes! Made a copy of the barebones Engine2D_Test solution.
01:05 Player rectangle follows mouse cursor smoothly. Other rectangles follow player smoothly.
01:45 Enemies and bullets! Home stretch!
02:00 Submitted a few revisions of the game.
02:15 Submitted a few screenshots. Changed the game name to "Run Around And Kill Everything!". Added more tags.
02:40 Final refinements to gameplay completed, and game resubmitted.

Creative Uses for 15 Different Household Items (For let-off-studios)

thumbnailItch.png

Walk around and press 'e' to pick up and drop various items.

When holding an item, press the left mouse button to use it.

---

This was made for let-off-studios. It was an incentive for providing over 12 comments in the 12 Days of Klikmas event way back in December. Oh, is it already February? Oh well. I was originally going to make a quick RPG Maker 2003 game, but I had this idea and I wanted to make it work in Unity. It was inspired by the following image, which let-off-studios provided:

http://static1.squarespace.com/static/52eacccbe4b0c2e20eb40803/539661e2e4b053c664d7b505/5396627de4b0a5f8c7968889/1402364543671/chase-with-broom.png?format=750w

---

Uses many free models from the Unity asset store.

Thanks to Google Image Search for the textures.

Sounds are mostly from RPG Maker 2003.
