Let's make some tunewrecks.

Whats' a tunewreck? Take the spirit of making a trainwreck and channel it into making a song. So this event is for submitting music, not games! Make a quick and terrible song in whatever way works for you (make it on a computer, make it on a drum machine, make it on a saucepan...), turn it into an audio file, and submit it as you would a regular game (you can now upload mp3, off, wav, and flac files)

It'd like to combine everything submitted into a single mix tape/CD/playlist/whatever they're called now, and make that available as a single download on here too. If you submit more than one thing please nominate one to be the entry for the compilation, and if you would rather not be included in that please let me know somehow. I'll make some album art.

NB: You're making a tunewreck, so please don't agonise over it for the full two weeks. Make something quick, and make a bunch of things if you feel inspired. Take less or more time if you need. Start early and/or finish late if you need. Don't pressure yourself please. I hate the pressure of game jams.

There's no theme (maybe there will be in future events?), but if you want some starting points:

I don't know any really good resources for finding music easy to use making tools, but I'll put some links here as I think of them.

Glorious Wreckz Garden

gwg-screenshot.jpg

Happy Birthday Glorious Trainwrecks! In this 'metagame' you can explore and experience a selection of 6 years of history of wrecks. (Some may call it game menu or game loader: well... it's more than that.) 2300+ games included!

How to start: unzip .exe file to your desktop, or any other convenient location. (Don't run from within the .zip file!)

What to do: Use keyboard or mouse to peek around. Select a game icon to download it, then again to play it. (Hold mouse button or ENTER slightly longer than usual to do this. There must be some challenge involved!) Enjoy your garden!

Challenges: If a chosen game doesn't start at all, it's probably a Klik 'n Play game (and you don't have the KNP DLLs installed?) or a 16-bit-Windows-7-unfriendly game. Your challenge is to make it work; I didn't figure it out yet... Some games have mysterious hidden icons... Some games have mysterious cryptic description text...

System requirements: Windows XP or 7 (or 8?), average decent graphics card, DirectX (at least version 9?), XNA 4.0 redistributables, .NET 4 redistributables

the question generations have discussed about will finally be answered

this game is BEATABLE- seriously

probably its too easy now and you guys have fast enough fingers than me but I have added one more second - a FULL second to make it easier because after a while I wasn't able to beat it myself anymore (i guess because I am just way too tired)

Call of Doodie: Modern Daycare

Game File:

Well, its not good in any sense of the word. ...or really done in any sense of the word...but its here.

You get the same ending by dodging the car for long enough and for crashing into it, I didn't have enough time to do different endings with 2 hours.

But yeah, move the mouse to dodge the cars whilst driving home to play the next totally new and original Call of Doodie game!

This was going to be a bit longer, so if anyone wants me to do all that I planned, I guess you could beg me until I do.

Made in Java instead of Klik and Play, because I'm an idiot.

A two-players asymmetric game based on 2D platformers, in which players
must cooperate and obey to retrieve balls hidden in the level… until
one of them betrays the other.

Master Teyopia loves bouliches. He would fill up his life bar, but he’s too big to move. So, he ordered Chipili to pick them for him.

Teyopia may lighted Chipili to show him the path. If Chipili doesn’t obey, he can punish him by throwing lightning.
Chipili runs fast ! He hates the dark but loves the Bouliches. When he is close to Teyopia, he can offer it, but far from his eyes he can also eat it… and maybe one day become stronger than Teyopia.

TecnoballZ

While I was playing around with a Fedora 13 Beta LiveCD (which seems to have a pretty good audio stack), I discovered this weird Linux game called TecnoballZ.

http://linux.tlk.fr/games/TecnoballZ/

It's an Arkanoid clone with some oldskool flavor (it was originally written for the Amiga). There are many aspects of this game that make it rather... special.

First of all, the ball movement feels almost exactly like the one built into Klik & Play: you can't control the ball's rebound direction after it hits your paddle, and the ball seems limited to just 16 directions (down from KnP's 32!). As a result, your ball will probably frequently get stuck bouncing horizontally back and forth forever. Thankfully, the game offers about a zillion weird features that allow you to get the ball unstuck. In the four corners are these catchers that spit your ball back out diagonally. You can tilt (bump) the playfield on occasion by pressing the middle mouse button. "Monsters" fly around and send your ball off in some random direction when it hits them. I swear, it seems like half of the game's eccentricities were put in place to try and fix the problem of the eternal bounce.

There's also a special move accessible with the middle mouse button called the "Gigablitz" which, after standing still and charging up for ten seconds or so, allows you to shoot a giant laser that destroys every brick it passes through - including the unbustable bricks!

One powerup lets you control the direction of the balls simply by holding the right mouse button - but this is also the button you use to launch balls (EG. from the Glue Option), which will probably mess you up a bit.

You are able to obtain paddles for the left, right, and top sides of the screen, even though there's only a pit along the bottom.

Another powerup, called the Mega Option, basically gives you all four paddles, makes them giant, gives rapid fire for each, and floods the area with giant balls, allowing you to beat the rest of the level within, like, two seconds.

Much like Doom's Doomguy, there's an avatar representing your character in the HUD. I'm calling him the TecnoballZguy. His jaw drops at seemingly random intervals, and he obtains this somewhat creepy smile when you use the Gigablitz. The game in general has this somewhat goofy cyberpunk feel to it, and some of the text strings are in Engrish (when you choose the Size powerup in the shop, you get, "AH YEAH IT IS MUCH BETTER WITH A SUCH LONGER BUMPER").

I'm not aware of a Windows port, so to play it on the computer, you need to be running Linux or BSD, though there are also ports for the PSP and GP2X. Though theoretically you could probably compile it for Windows since it's open source and uses SDL...
