Pippin Barr made Sibilant Snakelikes - https://pippinbarr.github.io/sibilant-snakelikes/ - many classic and recent games as ssseen through a sssnake-like lenssss. The Shadow of the Colossus and Sensible Soccer versions I liked especially (You should check out his blog as well - http://pippinbarr.com/ )

Anyway, this is basically one of them, but Asteroids, banging once again on my love of x/y inertia in games. Press arrow keys to start the snake thrusting and hunting down the apple/asteroid.

One of my first experiments in generated sound, which I like because having all graphics and sound and gameplay in a single file reminds me of the old days of type-in games in computer magazines.

Space Chase

SPACE CHASE!

Very quick game where you're being chased by kamikaze space ships. They've chased you into an Asteroid field.

Survive as long as you can by tricking the enemy ships into crashing into the Asteroids!

Controls are WSAD or ARROWS. (Up = accelerate, Down = turn tighter)

Was going to implement a timer but ran out of time!

Use the dropbox link for updated versions.

Asteroids meets an RTS! Draw bounding boxes with the mouse to select a bunch, then click to send them to points on the screen and have them fight the asteroids.

's' adds new ships when your reserves run low.

'r' resets the game. Kind of.

You might just want to press s a lot and have fun with the pretty patterns.

2P S.A.H

*UPDATE

I've made a new link for the game, a more permanent and safer host on my domain (instead of dropbox)

New features have been added including tighter controls, decreased fire-rate and game changing power-ups including rapid fire and shield.

Font has been fixed and new sound and music has been added, enjoy!

2P S.A.H

A 2 player competitive cross between Asteroids and Air Hockey.
This is my first game I hope you like it! You need a friend to play this, but even if you have no friends arround you should still have a look :)

Features:
FULLY DESTRUCTIBLE ENVIRONMENTS!!! Frostbyte 2 has NOTHING on this.
MEGA COOL NOISES with REVERB!!!!
DIFFICULT TO CONTROL SPACESHIPS which shoot BULLETS and drop MINES!!!
A WELL PRETENTIOUS PRESENTATION - Good luck figuring out what the heck you have to do!
RELATIONSHIP BONDING - Get intimate with a friend or loved one as you play around a single keyboard!

It runs best in Google Chrome as the game runs in hardware mode. But it still performs fine in software mode in other browsers - just not as well.

Made in Construct 2.

NOTE: SORRY, ONLY A MAC VERSION CUZ I CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET POLYCODEPLAYER TO WORK

Okay so after my failed attempt last night to make this as a rules-following 2-hour entry http://www.glorioustrainwrecks.com/node/2043 I persevered, and managed to complete the game I intended to complete despite discovering interesting limitations in Polycode/LUA such as (1) you can't remove objects from a physics space and (2) you can't have objects that aren't squares. This was made between 9 PM Friday and 3 PM Saturday and is the first program I have ever made in Lua.

Attached: UNPLAYABLE ASTEROIDS. This is the standard Asteroids we all know, except without the convenience that the new asteroids spawned when an old asteroid is destroyed are smaller than the old asteroid. You'll get the idea quickly

Source code: https://bitbucket.org/runhello/luatest attached version is rev 0522ef253dfd

EDIT: I forgot to mention the stone textures are from http://sxc.hu

A lonely planet wants a moon.

Click and drag it to use its gravity to lure deadly asteroids into its orbit. The longer you can keep the planet happy by surrounding it with deadly asteroids, the more points you receive.
