You Can Watch the Oscars!

oscars cover.png
Game File:

The ultimate Oscar watching game! While my family was watching the real Oscars, I put together this wholesome entertain-game, just for you guys! Aren't you so lucky? (Cover comes from here, btw.)

Note that this game does require an interpreter to play. If you're playing from the launcher you're good, but if not, try Zoom for Mac, or Gargoyle for Windows.

Ladies' Auxiliary Klik of the Month Ball #3

Sun, Jan 17 2010 09:00 AM
01/17/2010 - 18:00
01/17/2010 - 20:00
Europe/Helsinki

Is the regular Klik of the Month Klub at an absurdly inconvenient time? Then try the Ladies' Auxiliary Klik of the Month Ball! (Ladies' Auxiliary Klik of the Month Ball is open to all genders and time zones.)

The rules are the same: You get two hours to make a game in Klik & Play. If Klik & Play is a hindrance rather than a boon to your creativity, feel free to dump it for the game creation tool of your choice. If you're new to Klik & Play, check out our Learning KNP FAQ.

It's no fun making games by yourself in a vacuum, so make sure to stop by IRC. Our server is irc.freenode.net, and our channel is #glorioustrainwrecks.

For more information, check out the N00B FAQ.

Sign up below to be reminded the day before the ball!

Cactus Block (02/20/2010)

cactus.png
Game File:

This is an old game that predates the current GT submission system. I am reuploading it so that all my GT games will show up on this page: https://www.glorioustrainwrecks.com/games/*/sylvie

Cactus Block is a "gambling platformer". Use WASD to move, and click to place either a cactus or a block. You don't know which one it will be. Press R to restart the level if you get stuck or fall off the bottom.

In 2013, I made a remake of this game with added features called Cactus Block 2013. You can download that here: http://love-game.net/cactus.zip

Yee Haw

yee haw.png

Made for 1HGJ #213: Overpopulation

The people want cowboy hats! They'll chase after your hat, and shout yee haw once they get it. If they bump into someone else, they'll create a new person. There is no objective besides just messing around. If you give too many people hats at the same time, their yee haws might get very loud, so be aware.

Controls: left click to start, move the mouse around to move the cowboy hat

The "yee haw" sound effect is a recording of myself saying it when I was nine years old.

What next

I've been making some stuff that seems to be steadily increasing in scope (Caught Between Dimensions and Flamingo Quest both being stupidly large for the scope I want to work in) and it stresses me out so I'm kind of forcing myself to scale down, have fun, and relax, which is sorta why I signed up to this site in the first place.

Every time I finish one of these games, I usually decide which game to make next. I have a list of games at the back of my last 3 notebooks that are all small ideas I want to make at some point. I enter ones that interest me most in that moment into a tournament bracket and then see which one wins

Usually... The one that wins isn't the one I make next. And it's usually one I don't expect. I'm currently working on a microgame about attending terrible lectures. It's called "terrible lectures". But that might not even be the next one I finish.

Right now I'm just sort of riding whatever idea takes my fancy and if I lose interest in something and get interest in something else I'll work on that. It feels much healthier and ensures everything I work on is something I'm actually passionate about and the work I release will be the games I was most invested in
