Portal 2 ARG: The Videogame

Game File:

Are YOU a nerd? Do YOU want to perform repetitive time-consuming tasks in order to feel like you're part of some kind of community 'happening'? Can YOU think of nothing better to do with your time than to stress over whether a game that has taken 4 years to make will be released this week or next week? You should probably go and take part in the Portal 2 ARG!

But what's that you say? You don't own any of the games? Your internet connection is unreliable? You hate real-world metagames and only engage in play within videogames? Well I have good news for you: the Portal 2 ARG has now been adapted into a HOME VIDEOGAME!

WATCH as a status bar gradually ticks down to the game's release date!
CLICK on potatos (haha! HOW WHIMSICAL!) to hasten the bar's progress!
ASK yourself why you bothered this time next week when you could have finished the game anyway!

$400+ RPG Making Competition at 64digits.com

Banner by LAR Games

LINK TO COMPETITION

On Tuesday the 1st of May 2012, at 0:00am GMT, you will have three months to make an RPG (see Rules for details).

You must then submit your RPG by Wednesday the 1st of August 2012, at 0:00am GMT, after which the winners will be decided.

This will be the grand finale of Competition Four Digits 2011/2012, a competition three times longer than any other in the year!

RULES:
1. The aim of the competition is to develop entirely your own game within the time limit (1st May - 1st August). You MUST submit your final game before the 1st of August 2012. You will have to keep up to date with my blog posts to find out how to submit your final game.
2. You MUST have stated you are going to enter before the 1st of May 2012.
3. You MUST NOT include anything in the game that you don't have full permission to use or significant amounts of game content that you had already made prior to the competition.
4. Your final game MUST have "RPG elements", specifically relating to the gameplay (eg anything such as experience points, inventories, quests, turn-based combat, etc. Fantasy themes and long storylines are common in RPGs, but not related to the gameplay).
5. There are no programming language/game engine restrictions except that the game MUST run on Windows 7. Your game shouldn't require additional software installation (unless you really need to do so).
6. Don't be a cheater.
7. ONE entry per person, maximum team of FOUR.
8. I reserve the right to update or otherwise change the rules and to disqualify any entrant who breaks the rules.

OmniLudiCon - discussing opensourcing

So I was searching my stuff and I found OmniLudiCon's source in readable form.

I'd really like to make this opensource and possibly translate the whole thing to HTML5, but the level and high score save/load functions call PHP code on my website that is probably full of security holes.

Any ideas?

Meme Status

So he has a mullet. And runs funny. And has this slightly cheesy/disturbing grin on his face. Always. And all he does is jog. That's the only animation he was ever given.

But I must digress. How the hell did the Yellow Jogger become a meme around here anyway?

I actually found the Yellow Jogger humorous before I came here, after having played Arf's game "El Loco Dumas". And when I arrived at Glorious Trainwrecks, it appeared to be an injoke here as well. But I don't understand! It's just a freaking sprite.

Or maybe the Yellow Jogger's grin is starting to make me insane.
