Bitsywick 2015

An acquaintance of mine has started the "Bitsywick" game jam events. The first one is in late January 2015. A theme will be determined and announed, and participants have a week to come up with a game and submit it. This is a shorter form event than what he usually runs in August: The Buswick.

http://bitsy.thebuswick.com/2015/january/index.php

Folks around here seem accustomed to games completed in a week or less, so there's likely at least a few of you who want to participate.

I'll see you there! :)

Super Orange Tycoon Thing 2 - The Mystery Of The Lemons

OrangeTwo.png
Game File:

They say there was once a guy who managed to find a way to use "Fruit Alchemy" to create Strawberries out of nowhere, and turn them into delicious Oranges. He also managed to gain enough money from his invention to buy a luxurious manor. After the news of his success spread, more people have started learning the art of Fruit Alchemy, there are even people who claim they can create Lemons, a mysterious fruit of which not much is known. But anyways, you decided it was time to make it big, and used your life earnings to buy a small patch of land and hire one of these "Fruit Alchemists". Hopefully, you have what it takes to be an...

Super Orange Tycoon Thing 2 - The Mystery Of The Lemons, the sequel nobody was waiting for! Top features of this game include:
- All the characters from the first game, plus a few more.
- An advanced upgrade system (For KnP standards, at least).
- Cookie Clicker-like hiring system.
- Too many fruits 7.8/10.
- 10 to 15 minutes worth of gameplay on a single frame.
Mouse used to control everything. You can press F1 for instructions on how to play. But for the proper experience i recommend you figure things out yourself as they appear.

Entomology PhD Simulator

epsscreen.bmp
Game File:

Entomology PhD Simulator is a highly realistic life sim based on typical postgraduate study experiences. If you can finish this game, you will most likely be ready to study your own Entomology PhD.

All sprites and sound effects courtesy of Clickteam, all music stolen shamelessly from Wagner's Götterdämmerung, the beautiful lab floor background and all the relevant gameplay experiences are my own work.

more old screenshots and such

photo_2017-09-05_21-47-36.jpg

Decided to upload some old screenshots of other projects ive had laying about. I have two, the first is called "Steve Reich presents...Table For Two". I don't actually have this project anymore and sadly these are the only two screenshots I still have of it, but I remember being super proud of what was there. Losing the project kinda kicked me back into this non game making lull again, sadly.

The second one is called "The curious adventure of Zippity Treason". I don't remember where the name came from but for some reason I had this idea of making something that was completely non interactive. As in you pressed a couple buttons at the start and then the game just, did its own thing for the rest of the journey while you watched it.

If it weren't obvious enough, this never really got past these three screenshots, namely because I had no idea what to do to begin with and how itd even work. Making what is essentially a self contained tv show in tgf is quite a daunting task, and I only realized it after i got past the initial screens that actually have interaction on them. Thus, nothing ever actually came out of this, but hey, its a neat thing to look at anyway.

Ends with a nice throwback to HOLIDAY RUNNER, with the owl warning Windlebee (that's you!) that there's no interactivity from this point forward. Probably because theres nothing actually there in the game files. How ironic that someone who adores the heck out of the Multimedia (aka Interactive Television) era tried to make something entirely non interactive. My best guess is my thoughts at this point were that, considering I constantly make these non interactive bits of klikart in the level editors, why not try making a game that pretty much completely consists of that?

Now that, in itself, gives me the idea for an art gallery type program in tgf. Ooh, I feel those creative juices flowing already!!

Twinfinite

I'm not much for coding, so I figured I would create a Knytt Stories level based upon the logo design of a website I work for. I'm trying to learn pixel art as well and since Knytt is great for that, I've made this simple maze game with multiple heroes positioned throughout.

Killing of the Great Pumpkin

Killing Of the Great Pumpkin

A game by Mark Porter with music by Duncan Fenn.

Thanks to Philip Linde.

Yesterday I joined glorioustrainwrecks and made my first game in years- well 5 years to be exact. I have to admit it was quite a lot of fun so I felt like doing something else well just today - with the remaining motivation and spirit. I have to admit this game took longer than 2 hours because my computer would fuck up and a lot of other problems. The graphics just took me like 25 minutes so the rest got wasted in coding.

I still hope you enjoy this title even though it took longer than 2 hours. Sorry but I didn't want to submit a buggy piece of junk.

cheers

Mark
