My real KOTM game wasn't working out, so I decided to do some fucking about in Unity instead. Totally incomplete.

I wanted to make something for the "Pre-fright Check-in" jam but I started late and didn't work very hard. It's just an old-skool website, really, and some things I find scary to think about. Death and existence, you know. Here's the frame I wrote for the game:

In 1999 the Perfetti Van Melle corporation, in collaboration with the Baudelaire estate, ran a promotion called "Mementos® Mori." The promotion consisted of a limited edition naphthalene flavor of their popular mentos® candy called "Ail-mints." Printed on the inside wrapper of each such roll of "Ail-mints" was a depressing tidbit meant to "chill the very soul of the reader as that ... peppermint candy chills their taste buds."

A promotional website was also created, featuring some examples of text from the promotion, as was the style at the time. A miserable failure, the website was quickly scrubbed from the mentos® website and was never mentioned again. Recently a copy of it turned up on a CD-ROM among the possessions of the late Mr Guy Dupré. He was believed to be 82 at time of passing and was survived by no immediate family.

I've been dedicated to the irc front of the ug for a while... yes it's #glorioustrainwrecks on irc.freenode.net and for those who already idle about on irc servers this channel is probably one of my fav and if I ever tell someone "hey get on irc" i'll be hitting this one..

This is made possible by people like SpindleyQ, linhat, effbee, Smedis2, mojofilter, ray, pirate_sephiroth and those who make their presence applicable either just to say hi, but I'm really making this post to promote irc awareness and there's a being that makes it worth the while.

That's mno.. It isn't much but he got like older the other day. like a couple decades i'm assuming is his age but of course he's wise beyond his years and I've been viewing games in this ug for a while and I've always been impressed by not only his releases but the way he has them written up. When he makes a cover page for something he goes out of his way to make it count, and that's why we shout out his birthday or at least I do.

So yeah join irc if not just to catch mno riding dirty, or maybe with his pals goto and chie, or whatever. If you're looking for inspiration, he's a good go-to but don't overdo it... He needs inspiration too. That's why I picked this link where like if he's ever feeling a lack of it, and he doesn't want to look at the klip art on days when he's feeling down, he can go here.. It's a little last second since his birthday was the other day, but as we all know....

I have a proposal, ladies and germs. I was thinking about the whole more klik of the month thing last night, and maybe what we need is something a little different which can run concurrently to our (and I mean SpindleyQ's) beautiful monthly creation.

Since I am still a little bit obsessed with klik n play, this is my ambitious proposal:

A collaborative effort, channelled into one game, destined to push klik n play to its very limits and exploit every quirk of the event editor.

A KLIK N PLAY RTS. Made by everyone. Tentative title, "Krush Klik N Destroy".

The idea would be, you work on it within a limit (say, an hour, pre making assets is of course quite acceptable), then p-p-p-pass it on to the next glorious trainsurfer, with hearty discussion about the Swayze-like clay shaping that must take place in the forthcoming iterations. Repeat (to use the cricketing vernacular, everyone would have several bites at the cherry), until the game is a stupendously playable hodge-podge of ideas and we unveil it to the unsuspecting cosmos.
