BOUNCING GRAMPA

bouncyscreenshot.png

wow! you made it!! bounce as much as you can as hard as you can for sixty seconds. our dynamic P.H.Y.S.I.C.Z engine allows you to pull of sick stunt! GET THE POINTS??

this was my first attempt at making a game without looking at any tutorials. graphics came free with Game Maker Studio. (technically this is a little longer than sixty seconds but the actual gameplay lasts for exactly a minute and anyway it's my event so if you don't like it you can shove off)

Midnight Snack

You are the Pogo Fox! You're also really hungry!

- Move left and right with the arrow keys.
- Hit diamonds to establish checkpoints.
- Bounce off of platforms to gain points - but watch out, for the platform vanishes as soon as you land on it! And some platforms bounce you differently...
- You can only go through the padlock blocks by paying ten points each.
- Press Shift over the chrome pads to reset your points to zero and restore all platforms and padlock blocks.

Update:
- When hitting a checkpoint diamond, any opened padlock blocks that are on-screen will become permasolid, which should solve accidental backtracking issues.
- Hopefully solved an issue where the player might accidentally bypass a post-level checkpoint diamond without actually activating it.

Vertical Impulse

vertimpulse.png

This is based on an unreleased game of mine which I never finished, which itself was based on the old Macintosh shareware game Diamonds. There's also some inspiration from Messhof's Punishment: The Punishing and VVVVVV.

Guide this constantly bouncing Pong-like ball out of this dungeon-like environment. Break through the orange blocks (above the start) and blue blocks (below the start) and avoid the purple objects. You must be the same colour as the block to break it.

This thing is kind of dry and could probably do with a more interesting design, but w/e.

Left, right: Move.
Up, down: Speed up or slow down, depending on your current velocity.

EDIT: Endless respawn bug and some sticky wall bugs fixed.

Pong/Antipong

pongantipong.png

"At last, a game that exercises your right brain, AND your left brain!"

"An examination of duality in the most powerful artistic medium available to us: the microcomputer programme. As the player moves the bottom paddle toward the ball, she is moving the top paddle away from it. With each volley caught, she has sowed the seeds of downfall on the next. Her success is turned upside down into a failure, her victory into a defeat. And thus, much like Neo, she finally sees the binary of all things."

This is yet another single player Pong-type game. In this one, your single mouse controls both paddles, but the bottom paddle travels in the opposite direction as the top paddle. How long can you keep the ball in the court?
