This was an experiment in trying to salvage pieces of an old, scrapped game and turn it into something I could release. It was an attempt to make a game with an aimless design direction. By this I mean this game was made with no design goals, no direction, and nothing planned beforehand. I wanted to see if it could work and where it would take me.

TWANKILITY: Forced Meditation

Hello! I decided to have my OWN kotmk party.

This game, or "meditation tool" as I prefer to call it, was inspired by a conversation I had with Dess about games focused on guided meditation. I said I should make a game about it for the next KotmK then realised it would be more interesting to make a game about forced mediation. I decided to go ahead and make it RIGHT THERE AND THEN so here it is.

3d render of table made out of sticks

I am going to make a 3d render of a table that is made out of sticks. The sticks come from mangrove trees and the inside of the tree flesh is like a mushroom texture or like foam but then inside that there is a white core like a bloody bone. That is what the tables will be made from and you can then go to a restaurant made from this style. This will not serve any purpose to the game except maybe giving you some health (and there will also be a puzzle in the restaurant, but it will be distinct from eating at it). The purpose of this then I do not know, but it seems like a very good experience to include in my opinion. Some things in my opinion should not be gamified, because when a section has a purpose, it then feels like it has died after it's purpose has been exhausted so if you want something to be nice forever, you can not give it any purpose, or I guess you can give it a purpose that is not expendable.
I think that at this joint the ideal food would be a watery looking soup containing some bits of fish floating since that just seems like what they would eat at this joint. Also maybe you can eat a crab since there are some crabs at this island you can catch and there is a woman who I forget the name of who you must battle at a different point in the game who catches the crabs right outta the beach with some long skewer thingies.
Obviously also there has gotta be some great music in the restaurant too, and I think that I am going to need to perform the music live for the right kind of effect. Most of the league of piss music has been made in the tracker program renoise, but I have grown rather sick of trackers, I just haven't thought of a better way of making the music yet. Using trackers is pretty much the complete opposite of live performance and you can tell that when you listen to the music in the games as it tends to be rather stunted. The upside of using renoise though is that it has a lotta cool sounds and all that since it's built in wavetable synth is quite nice and etc.
I used to have one of those melodion things that my great uncle gave me. It would have been really good for this I reckon, but I have moved to a different country now and do not have it so I can't do that. I do have a keyboard / synthesizer which I could use and probably will use.
there will also be a ghost

Yesterday I got an email in my inbox asking for my participation (as a "employee" aka "useful idiot") in a penny stock scam. I've been caught up in one before, so I felt inspired to convey the general tone and feeling of such operations in ZZT form.

Although this game is fictional, the techniques described are pretty close to reality. One only needs to visit InvestorsHub and browse around a little to find shining examples of this particular formula in action. It really is all about emotional state and maintaining that balance of "fear vs. greed" to keep the victim involved. But eventually your money disappears, and....well, nothing happens after that! (I came out of it okay, in the end.)

Some of the techniques not depicted in this game:

-Encourage a "community" of victims and make them start reassuring each other and reaching out to their friends to help in rationalizing a logically unsound investment(a friend got me drawn in, in my own case)
-Include accomplices to make in-person visits to victims that support your image. They could be "partners," "common men made millionares," "skeptics," or any number of character archetypes that weave a story that barely holds itself together. The sky's the limit.
-Turn business into war - e.g. "get back at the evil bankers manipulating the market" or "help revolutionize (industry x)". If the foes are big and vague, they're easy to blame, and your cause looks all the better, regardless of how poor its fundamentals are.
-Make bold claims that might hook people not familiar with the particular industry, such as these gems from my email:

...A start-up funded through two rounds of engineering and now with a manufacturing agreement in place with a NASDAQ traded global top ten contract manufacturer.

...A former computer science professor at USC, Sacramento commented on *redacted* as follows:

“Based on my experience, I can testify that this is a fresh idea, highly innovative, and, in my opinion, something that the general public would love to use. Most users do belong to several social networks. This tool makes the social network environment easy to navigate … and user friendly. This is a required application on the same level as something like Instagram. Instagram fell into an innovative and rapid to market category, which captured a large market really fast. *redacted* has similar characteristics and falls into this category of being innovative and reaching a large market.”

(I followed up to that email telling the guy "I don't work for equity, but I will work for $250,000 up front" and he politely declined. He doesn't know what he's missing out on...)

Obliterate The States

I was thinking about this game just this minute and thought it would be a good addition to the Trainwreck Gallery. Well it would if I could find a working link to the bloody thing as the only one I've found is a dead FortuneCity link. Kind of makes me wish I had saved a copy from 1998 or so since it is a "Klik" game, that sort of thing seems to be in vogue around these parts. All I could get of it was a description I yanked from some site;

"OBLITERATE THE STATES - The wacky yet entirely eco-friendly alternative to real-life military conflicts!" Four levels of challenging gameplay can be yours as you take on the guise of the Iraqi dictator himself and set out to free yourself from the oppression of the capitalist Western imperialists. Dodge the cycling figure of Kofi Anan, beat up Bruce Lee clones, take off into space to rescue stranded space monkeys and finally face Bill Clinton in a battle of the heavyweights..."

Which I think speaks for itself, really.

I am alive!

Welp. It's been something like 2 years since I logged into this account.

Recently I was talking to someone in a Discord chatroom I had set up for old computer collecting and he mentioned having played KnP games as a kid. I remembered this site and the KnP archive and all; and since I had still been off-and-on maintaining my geocities.ws site I thought I'd update this account too (after a password reset, I had forgotten the old one I put on here..).

I am combing the web for more Klik'n' Play games for the Archive. If anyone has found any on their shovelware CDs or something please PM me (and I might take SpindleyQ's offer on webspace for hosting the files from a few years ago. ;) )

Anyways, that's my little ramble. I will probably develop more games, though I've gotten rusty. Still got my CD somewhere around here.
