Commodore 64 Christmas Demo ZZT

c64ss.gif
Game File:

SpindleyQ Suggested I upload a ZZT Demo, and I decided to flow with it thinking what more absurd than a ZZT emulation of a Commodore 64 Demo? I created this little gem because back in the day I loved the Commodore 64 Christmas Demo. I remember sitting there for 7 minutes waiting for this to load up on an old 5 1/4" floppy disk and I'd just watch it over and over. The animation was so smooth... I'd def be loading up this disk during the holidays.

Nowadays I can just click the tube video of it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Nfgdr4fOS8 which isn't the same as listening to that disk drive load and seeing the blue screen, and hte anticipation... But I hope I did my part in recreating this timepiece moment to moment. Could be better, could be worse, could be in a hearse, but enjoy nonetheless. I'm not sure which you should watch first, the link I provided, or running this file. Just make sure you've got music going otherwise it'd be a little lacking without it. I'll leave it your call nonetheless.

Yong Yong's Revenge

Yong Yong's Revenge!

First off, what is Yong Yong?

"Yong Yong is believed to be the name of a pirate developer that has developed numerous games for portable Nintendo systems, namely the Game Boy and Game Boy Color. Their games are notorious for being of particularly poor quality, particularly the music, even when compared to other pirate games, as well as most of them being strikingly similar in design and gameplay." - BootlegGames Wiki

This is a spoof of their terrible games, so watch out! It sucks!

This was a very long project (Started on the 'PGC Forums') and took over a year to complete, because I suck at making games. :P

Characters:
RobGBA
Linkrulezall
buzz-n64
Ray0fLightning
Smedis2

Plot: RobGBA finds the rarest pirated game known on eBay, and gives a HUGE bid! Later on that week, it arrives, and oh boy, it was the worst game ever, worser then Sonic 06! Even WORSE then bloody ET for the 2600!

Die By The Sword

It was brought up just recently over at TGQ forums and I am currently trying to remember just how much of a completely awesome but greatly flawed game it was. It has this completely awesome combat system where you can take the limbs off of the various monsters you kill and even pick up the bits that have fallen off and swing them around for a spell but the same can happen to you so you can get into situations where you are hopping around on one leg trying to kill a pig man who only has one arm but since the controls are a bit unwieldy you only really succeed in tapping him on the shoulder with your blade whilst you hurry to get out of the way of his axe and it descends into a shoulder tapping match.

So you have this hilarious game which is marred by this control scheme where you handle all movement with one hand and your sword with the other (the highest level of mouse sensitivity isn't really sensitive enough) whilst frequently fighting multiple enemies at the same time. There is no auto-face or keys that let you cycle though targets so you are handling strafing and turning often at the same time, moving forwards and backwards helps a lot as does crouching and jumping. There are times when you start a sword swing but have to quickly turn because what you are trying to kill just moved to the side and you frequently end up flailing at thin are whilst you get your legs hacked off by pissed off monsters.

You can see where this is going.

It's really a special kind of trainwreck, an oil shipment stuck behind a passenger car full of clowns. It's a hilarious game but the important parts are the ones that always spill out and end up setting everything on fire. There are only a few people who can get around this and still find the humour in it. And you can totally play as an ogre and bat annoying kobolds off the side of a platform suspended over a medieval blender pit.

I decided to try making a God of War type game, but I never played any God of War game before, so...

Born of the internet's cruel hand. The latest Sanic game consisting of 3 minigames.

Made for the lulz in roughly 12 hours on Sunday because I was feeling a little bit bored and juvenile. It might only be 3 but it was good effort for me.

Let's celebrate the 9th AND 10th year anniversaries of Glorious Trainwrecks!

04/24/2016 - 01:00

Etc/GMT-7

So, today is the 9th anniversary of Glorious Trainwrecks! That's like... a bit more than twice as long as I've been here, wow?!? That's really amazing. I don't know who else has been here for 9 years in a row other than SpindleyQ, but even then like. Congratulations!! On such a successful enterprise. I haven't done anything for more than 9 years continuously, other than breathing.

Well, to celebrate this, I thought to myself: what if I made a year long event starting today, and ending on the 10th anniversary? "Perfect!" - my reaction. 9 years is very impressive, but the only thing more impressive (that isn't 11) is 10: its' the first double digit, and it's a nice round number, and also it's 10! For some reason numbers like that sound nice.

I don't want to throw out celebrating the 9th anniversary either, so this event will combine both. Want to celebrate the 9th anniversary now? You can do that! Want to plan ahead for the 10th anniversary? This will help you do that! Want to celebrate the 10th anniversary now? You can do that too, I guess? Want to celebrate the 9th anniversary in a year? I'm not even going to make a snarky comment because I don't believe in submissions being "late"!

So here we go. I will one day submit something to this event, but for now I am too busy. Also, I recognize that the greatest event postings include many amusing gifs and regular images, but I do not have the time to gather suitable ones up. I will gladly take suggestions in the comments. Also SpindleyQ, feel free to edit this post to put some in!!

Haaaappy birthday everybody!
